Kim & Savini Cafe @ Kepong Baru

If being among plants is your thing, Kim & Savini Cafe is the place you should’t miss.

This quaint and cozy second floor cafe certainly has their charm with enchanting plants in every corner, mismatched furniture, huge murals and wooden art pieces (they are for sale also). With a skylight that floods this leafy space with sunshine, the cosiness is enough to entice you.

The private room.

Food selection was rather limited.

Cappuccino (RM12.00)

Egg Chicken Patty Cheese Sandwich (RM15.90)

It’s a huge ensemble of chicken patty, thick scrambled egg, lettuce, cheese and sliced tomatoes sandwiched between toasted bread. The flavour was ordinary as expected, nothing to shout about.

Waffle with Stockfish (RM17.90)

I’m not sure what is Stockfish but what I got was waffle crowned with abundance of bonito flakes and generous sprinkles of seaweed powder and Shichimi. The waffle was soft and slightly chewy and the whole combination was rather dry. The mayonnaise and dark savoury sauce didn’t did much to moisture the dish.

Big Breakfast (RM28.90)

The breakfast platter comprised some standard food such as chicken sausage, chicken ham, scrambled egg, baked beans, stir fried Portobello Mushroom, salad and toast.

Rose Lychee Cake

The cake was quite a disappointment as it had a bitter endnote which I couldn’t figure out what was that. 囧

Verdict: Although the cafe has a lovely interior and ambience, the food was just moderate and not outstanding. I’ll say that Kim & Savini Cafe is not one that I would come back again.

  • What a pity. The interior is very beautiful and so is the food presentation. That’s what I find disappointing at some places, the focus on the look of the plating rather than the taste of the dishes. A feast for the eyes but not for the mouth. LOL!

    • PH, although the food wasn’t live up to my expectation, this place still doing rather well as we couldn’t get a table during our first visit.

  • Stockfish is some kind of dried fish…and that’s what result in bonito flakes, I guess. Kekeke…the professional chef cooks the scrambled eggs like me…did not beat the eggs well enough, that’s why you can see the egg white. >.<

    • Kris, I tried to Google bonito flakes when I was writing the post and the result showed me that it was made from skipjack tuna, but I’m not sure if the stockfish = skipjack tuna.

  • An honest review this is.
    Although the food is subpar,
I would say that it’s still a cozy place to hand out with friends.
