New Restaurant Ipoh Chicken Rice @ Subang Jaya
We were running some errands at Subang Jaya area a few months ago and stumbled upon this chicken rice chain restaurant nearby which occupied the corner shop with huge signboard. Being a chicken rice aficionado (poached chicken to be precise), I immediately suggest it as our lunch venue π
New Restaurant Ipoh Chicken Rice, a renowned chicken rice brand started at Jalan Gasing and now has 6 outlets around Klang Valley.
The restaurant was bright, clean and equipped with air-conditioner.
Stretch ofΒ seating at the corridor outside the restaurant.
Nescafe (RM 2.50+) & Lime Sour Plum (RM 2.80+)
Rice (RM 1.60+)
Fluffy and fragrant.
Ordinary 1/4 Chicken (RM 11.00+)
There are 2 choices of chicken available in their menu, the organic kampung chicken and the original chicken. We opted for the latter as I found that the price for the organic chicken was quite hefty (almost 50% more expensive).
The chicken was delightfully tender and smooth, served in soy sauce-oil with coriander, grated ginger and scallions. Not the best but tasty enough.
Char Siew & Siew Yok ~ Small (RM 12.00+)
The siew yok had a nice crunchy skin however the meat given was too fat for our liking and the char siu was not memorable though.
Pork Ball Soup (RM 6.60+)
We love the pork balls here, bouncy with distinctive dried squid flavor. Very lip smacking indeed and 3 of us fought for the last piece π
Bean Sprout (RM 4.00+)
Fat & juicy Ipoh bean sprout, craving satiated~
Chili sauce was decent with just enough acidic to amped up the flavors of your rice and chicken.
Verdict:Β Overall, the food was OK although the price is a bit on higher side for chicken rice. Will consider coming back if I need a more comfortable place to enjoy my chicken rice rather than have it at road side stall or kopitiam.

The chicken looks good! Unlike Onn Kee, which was terribly oily and rough in texture, tsk tsk tsk
Onn Kee is for tourist, not ngam a professional foodie like you π
Last time there is one at Siza, Kota Damansara. wondering it is still there or not.
Yes, the outlet still there according to their website, hope it is up to date π
I like the steamed chicken with lotsa ginger sauce. Not forgetting the chili sauce has to be good too π
I don’t like too much ginger π
Hi CY, the steamed chicken looks good the bean sprouts looks crunchy… π
They are good !
ohmy! the meatball attracted me the most! =DDD
It was indeed yummy~
I was told by several that the food is not up to its pricing… π
Food is ok but it seems that many have said they have had better ones and cheaper too.
Ya, price is the main problem here~~
oh i patronise the Kota Damansara outlet quite often geh π their chicken really licin and tender π
Haha, you are the only 1 give compliment π
It used to be better but now, all pricey and nothing yummy. Steam chicken used to be nice, I remember having it in Sri Petaling and it was really good. That outlet is one of the earliest outlet and everything there is really tasty. Since after they expanded, food quality and taste deteriorated. Steam chicken is really mushy, charsiu and siuyoke in tiny portion and the soup is all MSG!
The SS15 outlet is one of the worse I’ve tasted so far. I rather go over to Restoran Kar Heong in SS14 instead and the price is less expensive.
SS15 outlet really that bad? Then I must be very lucky that day as my meal was OK π
Oh yes, if you have the chance, you can try Restoran Satellite along Jalan Gasing. It’s a really old restaurant but still serve really good Hainanese Chicken rice.
1977 has an outlet just right beside it trying to sabotage their business. aHaha
Heard many talk about the Satellite chicken rice, will try it if I happen to be there~
looks good! i think i will order one bowl of pork balls just for myself, heheh π
Yes, you should!
This chicken rice chain is definitely overrated! Used to serve tasty and yummy chicken rice when it was run by the fat boss at PJ, their first outlet. Since the founder passed away, it turned franchise, it sucks! I still remember eating at the PJ outlet during last year’s xmas eve.. the chicken was dry and so are the roast pork.
Feel sorry about your experience, although mine was ok but still think that the price is a bit high~
There are quite a few branches now. A bit on the high side but the place is clean and comfortable.
Indeed the clean and comfy environment is a main point I choose to dine in here π
I had quite a horrible experience at their branch (in puchong if not mistaken) and now it became a turn off. Maybe I should try this Subang branch.
Hate those chain shop with different standard @_@
