Prawn Mee @ New Yong Len Restaurant, TTDI, K.L

The search of noteworthy Prawn Mee aka Hokkien Mee in Klang Valley continues……. This round we found ourselves at New Yong Len Restaurant located in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail (TTDI) for another highly recommended Prawn Mee.

The Kopitiam was packed and crowded on that Sunday morning and we have to share table with a couple. Like most of the popular Kopitiams, the tables and cooking station of the vendors were cramped within the rather small space and there were some seating on the walkway in front of the shop as well.

This was the pull factor that attracted me for this visit. Despite her brisk business, the owner asked my order politely, first impression √  (^^)b

Prawn Mee (Small – RM7.50 & Big – RM8.50)

Although Hubby & I (Sam no longer wants to follow us for early breakfast =.=”) ordered  small bowl, but the serving was big with generous portion of noodles. It was completed with all necessary ingredients of prawns (in very smallish size), sliced lean pork, bean sprouts, Kangkung (water spinach) and topped with fried onion.

The crucial element of a good bowl of Prawn Mee unquestionably the broth, this version ticked all the boxes in my book. The broth was pleasantly infused with sweetness and savouriness of the prawn shells and heads, more intense than the San Peng Prawn Mee but still overshadowed by Piau Kee Prawn Mee. I would have preferred for a little spicier so I added all the Sambal provided. (^-^)

If you think one bowl of Prawn Mee can satisfy yours truly, you’re underestimating my breakfast appetite. The gentleman that shared table with us was having a plate of Char Kuey Teow which looked really tempting and we (or just me? LOL) could’t resist and ordered a plate too.

Char Kuey Teow (No Cockles, Small – RM7.50, Big RM8.50 & With Cockles, Small – RM8.50, Big – RM9.50)

The rice noodles was well charred with good Wok Hei, an enjoyable plate of Char Kueh Teow I would say.

Verdict: Both Prawn Mee & Char Kueh Teow are worth a try but be warned that you may have to wait for table for both weekdays (office crowds) and weekends.
