Restoran Nuworld @ Taman Selayang Jaya
Judging from its faded signboard, I believe this Restoran Nuworld has been existing for quite some time. For a long standing neighboorhood Dim Sum restaurant like this, it can only means one thing, good food with value for money. Did I assume correctly?
The restaurant was full house when we reached there on a Sunday morning. There’s no queuing system here, so one have to “chup” (reserve) the table by standing beside it and wait for previous diners to finish their food.
Table was cleaned carefully by using cleaning spray. d(-_^)
Dim Sum was steamed upon order. The steamed Dim Sum offering wasn’t exceptionally extensive, the choices focused more on traditional Dim Sum such as Siew Mai, Har Gaw, bean curd rolls, braised chicken feet, steamed pork ribs, fish balls, and etc. No fancy pancy “modernized” Dim Sum like any other Dim Sum restaurants.
Fried Dim Sum were served in traditional Yum Cha style with push cart, with several essential dishes like stir fried & fried radish cake, deep fried prawn rolls, yam puffs, stuffed brinjal & chili, and fried dumpling.
Siew Mai
Plump and firm with decent flavour.
Har Gaw
The Har Gaw was rather disappointed. They were filled with shrimp pieces which were not thoroughly deveined and the taste was not something that I’ll leave an impression.
Char Siew Bao
Fluffy bun encased with delicious savoury sweet barbequed pork filling.
Braised Chicken Feet
Nicely executed on the texture, soft and fall-of-the-bone easily but the gluey sauce certainly not something I would appreciate.
Minced Pork and Century Egg Porridge
Decent but nothing to shout about.
Fried Pork Balls
For the sake of trying because this was my first time saw this in a Dim Sum restaurant. But it turned to to be the least favourite dish of all due to it’s taste and texture were not to my preference.
Deep Fried Radish Cake
I like its texture with crisp outer and velvety creamy inside.
Fried Prawn Rolls
The bean curd skin wasn’t as crunchy as I would have hoped (not freshly fried).
Yam Puffs
Recommendation from Google Reviews, and it was indeed rather good with balance portion of mashed yam and pork filling.
♥ Verdict: Total bill came to RM53.80, included a pot of Chinese tea which I thought was quite reasonable and wallet friendly for a Dim Sum establishment with a simple (less exclusive) setting like this. Overall, the food we had was just quite ordinary and probably did not manage to lure us to a second visit. Dim Sum options at my disposal are THIS and THIS, which suit our taste bud better.

From the photos, I think the yam puff looked the best. I’d be happy with that. The fried prawn rolls remind me of the good ones I had in a traditional dim sum place (just like this one). We always wait for fresh trays to come out of the kitchen before requesting for them. ^_~
Kris, Dim Sum were steamed upon order, so the food served rather hot to us. 🙂
Love these kinda small-dish dimsum
KY, provided that the food served is good. 😛
