SBay Wantan Mee @ Restoran 111 (Bee Fatt), Damansara Uptown
Yes, it’s Wonton Mee again~~~
This stall has been in my to-try-list for ages but I didn’t have chance to try it out until last Saturday, I finally made it to visit this Kopitiam at Damansara Uptown (Damansara Utama).
Getting a parking at this commercial area always a pain in the neck, so instead of wasting time drive around to get a roadside parking lot, we opted to park at Starling Mall which is just across the street.
SBay Wantan Mee and the price list.
Char Siew Wonton Mee (Small – RM8.50)
I know I’m going to love this plate of Wonton Mee when it was presented to my table. Look at that Char Siew that gleaming in a deep mahogany colour and the perfectly caramelized crust, by my standard and preference, the Char Siew was irreproachable in taste and texture. I got my requested half fat half lean Char Siew where the fat layer was literally melt-in-my-mouth and lean meat was tender. It was lushly enrobed with sticky sweet sauce which satisfaction guaranteed in every bite.
Instead of the usual al-dente texture, the noodles had a delightful “crunchy” texture that I enjoyed immensely together with the delicious tossing sauce (with crunchy fried pork lard) that came with decent pork lard aroma and flavour.
The Wonton on the other hand was rather mediocre but I like the soup which was richly infused with flounder fish powder.
Verdict: I regret not trying this much earlier and it is definitely the best Char Siew Wonton Mee that I’ve eaten thus far.

Quite some time back, I read a very favorable review of this wantan mee stall. So you concur with the high ratings, so one day I must come and try since I am so near them!
PH, I thought you already tried this because it’s in your vicinity. 🙂
I’m genuinely thrilled that you’ve finally tried the much hyped SBay Wantan Mee.
I totally agree with you about the parking situation at Damansara Uptown. It can be such a nightmare sometimes, right? 😅 Parking at Starling Mall is definitely a smart choice.
Your description of the Char Siew Wonton Mee is just spot on! 👌 That glistening deep mahogany Char Siew…mmm, it’s making my mouth water! I also prefer my Char Siew half fat and half lean, so I can just imagine how perfect it was for you. The sweet sauce sounds like a dream too! 🍖
And those noodles! That unique “crunchy” texture sounds so interesting and delicious. 😍
It’s a bit of a bummer that the Wonton didn’t live up to the rest of the dish, but hey, at least the soup was good.
Tekkaus, hope you’ll have chance to try out this awesome Char Siew Wonton Mee.
They must be very confident of the taste of their char siew wantan mee since that’s the only thing they offer. From your description and the looks of the char siew, they look similar to those thick cut, sweetly caramelised, melt-in-the-mouth char siew of TNR by Sean & Angie. So this char siew is better than TNR’s then? 😉 P/S: The wantan soup comes in the cutest bowls yet I’ve seen from a wantan mee stall…lol.
Kris, since the order was made by hubby at the stall, I’m not sure what else it offers but I can see poster of braised chicken feet so I guess the vendor offers that too.
You’re right, the Char Siew tasted very similar with TNR, 90% of similarity, for my taste bud.
I need some of them chasiu!
KY, go get it!
