Read about a sharing of Char Siew Wonton Mee at Restoran Fong Yuen in social media and I knew I have to pay a visit to this place because the Char Siew served there looked very similar with THIS.
The restaurant was 80% occupied on that Sunday morning. It is a typical no-fuss, no-frills restaurant setting that peoples only come for the food.
The menu both noodle and rice dished with quite a diverse variety of toppings such as Char Siew, Wonton, roasted pork (Siew Yoke), roasted chicken, braised beef brisket, dry curry, dumpling, poached chicken and braised mushrooms and chicken feet (RM8.50-18.50). These topping can be ordered ala carte as well. Other dishes in the menu included pork skin and bean curd puffs in curry broth, pork balls soup, blanched vegetable with oyster sauce, blanched bean sprouts, fried Fuzhuk.

Char Siew & Siew Yoke Wonton Mee (small – RM16.00)
The noodles were cooked just right with the flawless al-dente texture that I prefer. The soy sauce concoction also equally delightful, savoury with pleasant hint of pork lard fragrance.
The Char Siew was lushly enrobed with a thin layer of sticky sweet sauce and we got the perfect fat-to-lean meat cut.
The Siew Yoke lover was happy with his order. Lovely crackly skin, well flavoured meat and a good apportionment of fat and lean layers, it was good, there’s no doubt about that.
The Wonton was just mediocre.
Poached Chicken Curry Laksa (small – RM12.50)
The Curry Laksa was laden bountifully with poached chicken, bean curd puffs, bean curd sheets and pork skin. The broth had a thick and creamy consistency, with a taste predominantly of coconut milk and spices. The spiciness level was just right, not too spicy with a little tongue-tingling heat.
Verdict: Yeah, Fong Yuen certainly a place to put into my revisit list!

Oh, everything looks good here….the char siew (charred and glistening), siu yuk (nicely browned, hopefully crackly skin) and curry (thick). I’ve always preferred poached chicken in my curry mee than curry chicken. Will KIV this place when I’m in the SS2 area (on my cheat day!). ^_~
