Thirdwave @ Bangsar South
CLOSED PERMANENTLY!
This cafe has been on my bucket list for a while and now ticked. We glad that we finally paid Thirdwave a visit and the food was as good as I had hoped.

The place was fully occupied during our visit and we were seated at the waiting area forΒ vacant table.

It is definitely a feel-good cafe which give the feel of spaciousness with lots of room between tables. Framed by straight forward modern furniture and tastefully decorated with eclectic mix of ornaments including wall mural, art pieces, books, iron wire wall lattice artwork and seashells.

A rather “professional” looking coffee bar. Coffee lovers can fix your caffeine addiction by choosing Thirdwave’s handcrafted brews with single origin beans from their special Brew Bar or just your usual cup of Java. Fancy something unusual? How about Kopi Kola – Coffee + Cola Cola?

There are more seats at the partitioned section outside the cafe, on the walkway of the mall.

Long Black (RM10.00)

Thirdwave Big Brekky (RM35.00)

Hubby’s usual order of Big Breakfast, it was indeed a fairly enormous serving, price paid was well justified. There were standard items such as huge portion of scrambled egg,Β buttered toasts, beef or chicken sausage , smoked beef bacon and charred cheery tomatoes. The breakfast platter also no lack of surprise elements which included Portobello mushroom, halved avocado and Halloumi cheese. Among all the items, I like the juicy Portobello mushroom the most and the bland tasting scrambled egg was a bit let down though.

Retro Scotch Egg (RM26.00)

The dish itself looks like an artist’s masterpiece. Nestled in the center of shredded beet and carrot nest on bed of cauliflower rice with sprinkles of alfafa sprouts, the Scotch Egg was wrapped with minced chicken and coated in bread crumbs then deep fried. Took the centre stage certainly the perfectly done hard boiled egg with runny egg yolk. I like the minced cauliflower which resembled couscous, paired with the balsamic reduction for a gentle acidic finish. The deep fried shredded beets was a bit too sweet for my liking and it wasn’t as crispy as I had hoped.
I was intrigued by their visually stunning desserts which spread through the social networks but we were too stuff this time. This definitely a good reason to revisit, no?

Verdict: There were some good & some bad, but it was mostly good. Service was ok and the ambience was great, certainly a place worthy to spend a meal on.

food must be good there.
Hits and misses, maybe you can try it out and let me know what’s your verdict ^__^
I like the looks of your plate (the still runny egg and nests of vegetables) better than the big brekky….and I can certainly share your sentiment of being let down by the bland tasting scrambled eggs coz it looked way overcooked…almost to the extent of an omelette…hehe! π
Actually the texture of the scrambled egg was decent, not overcooked (for our liking) but the bland flavor really a let down~
yay, one of my favourite cafes in kl too – i like how they come up with a whole menu of interesting new dishes every year π
I saw you review quite a few of their new menus too. It’s good to have new choices from time to time as a consumer π
