Yamagoya Ramen @ SetiaWalk, Puchong

Being the first original Kyushu ramen in Malaysia, Yamagoya Ramen open its second outlet at SetiaWalk after Solaris Dutamas (Publika).

Serving the ramen of northern Kyushu, more specifically Hakata style features a soup made primarily with pork bones, which are cooked for a long time over extremely high heat. Such a method of cooking releases the bone marrow into the broth and gives the soup its characteristic richness.

We were greeted by the open kitchen once stepped in the restaurant.

Fancy some serious ramen action?

The restaurant adopted a simple but comfortable setting; dim yellow lighting , dark wooden furniture and some warm red contrasting details.

Spied a cute sesame seed grinder on our table 🙂

Mugi Cha/ Roasted Barley Tea (RM 2.00)

Fried Chicken (RM 11.00)

We had 3 repeat order of this, a crowd pleaser obviously! Pipping hot with extremely crispy skin and succulent tender meat that beguiles me into forgetting myself having mild sore throat that day >.<

Fried Gyoza (RM 11.00)

The dumpling was equally tantalizing too, pan fried till crispy at one side with decent amount of minced meat filling.

 Mukashi Special Ramen (RM 24.00)

One of their signature ramen comprising a little of every ingredients from the essential char siu, seasoned egg, seaweed, bean sprout, wood ear fungus, spring onions & bamboo shoots in tonkotsu broth.

The tonkotsu (pork bone) soup was milky in appearance due to long simmering of the bone which expelled its natural essence (bone marrow to be precise) to the broth   Filling and flavorsome however the house-made ramen not as springy as I expected. No fault here but just more of a matter of preference, other seem like enjoyed it immensely.

Spicy Tobanjan Ramen (RM 22.00)

Served in tonkotsu soup as well with a side of Tobanjan chili aka spicy hot bean sauce (辣豆瓣酱). Mixed the chili with the soup to kick up the spicy level, not enough to set your mouth on fire but it was a tongue-tingling experience. For those who has low tolerance for spicy food please adjust accordingly ya 🙂

Kim Chi Ramen (RM 22.00)

An interesting Korean twist to the Japanese Ramen! A small portion of kimchi rendering a slightly tangy and mild spicy flavor to the broth.

Char Siu Ramen (RM 24.00)

This definitely for the char siu aficionado! One can get excited by looking at the bowl of ramen been fully covered by char siu. The char siu had good balance of  lean and fat layer with a good bite texture.

Black Garlic Ramen (RM 22.00)

The Black Garlic Ramen came with a totally different appearance of darkish broth. The garlic was roasted till black before adding into the broth resulting a distinctive garlicky flavor. This proved to be another winner with everyone with its palatable broth embodied in full garlic glory.

Yaki Ramen (RM 15.00)

The fried ramen was moist with a lots of vegetables added in.

Fried Rice (RM 10.00)

For something more substantial we shared a dish of fried rice as well.

Stir Fried Vege (RM 7.00)

To remove the guilty from over-indulging on char siu and the rich creamy broth we had a plate Stir Fried Vegetable consisted of cabbage, bean sprout, carrot and garlic.

As my virgin try on Japanese Ramen after so much hype and so many different ramen restaurants mushrooming around Klang Valley, I was truly enjoy the slurpilicious sensation brought by Yamagoya Ramen.
