Yume Cuisine @ Tropicana City Mall
It was a little shock when I first saw my friend posted the photo of the dish below in Facebook. Our familiar “ku lou yok” was served on bowl of ice! A gimmick or does it really taste good? Please read on~
We were recommended to pay Yume Cuisine @ Tropicana City Mall a visit by the aforementioned friend to try out the restaurant’s signature sweet & sour pork on ice. So we were here for his birthday celebration 🙂
Chef’s Special Sweet & Sour Pork on Ice
Served on bowl of ice cubes, the fried pork coated with sweet and sour sauce was crispy, also appeared was some canned longan. Curiosity satified! It wasn’t bad at all but not entirely amazing either, we unanimously preferred the traditional version 😛
Lamb Rack with Hawthorn Sauce
Lay on bed of crinkle cut french fries served ala western style, the lamb rack was tender coated evenly with appetizing sourish hawthorn sauce however the slightly strong gamey taste of the meat was quite irked me.
Clams in Superior Stock
The sizable clams were drenched in a lovely broth of Chinese wine, ginger, garlic & bird’s eye chili which was definitely pack a punch!
Stir Fried Potato Leaves with Sambal Belacan
For the vitamin C quota, nothing really to shout about.
Bean Curd in Pumpkin Sauce
Bean curd were sufficiently bathe in vibrant pumpkin sauce filled with hint of sweetness was easy to the palate. The accompanied diced mushroom and carrot added a pleasant crunchy factor to the dish.

Whole place is artistically decorated with various types of frames and equipped with wooden garden chairs & tables which I found is weird and not so ergonomic friendly when dining >_<
Verdict: The most raved Sweet & Sour Pork On Ice is very unique indeed but the combination of the temperature & the flavor just didn’t tickle our taste bud.
Oh interesting, that’s what they call as 冰镇咕噜肉 right? Tropicana Mall… a very confused yet small mall, i could not find the entrance to the supermarket last time LOL

Haha, my office is just near TCM but we only tried once.
Yeah, their 冰镇咕噜肉 is special but overall they are just another Chinese restaurant >_<

冰鎮咕嚕肉!!! yeah, reminds me of the HK movie 金玉滿堂 in the 90s!! orh, so this is where to find it in Tropicana Mall.. interesting!!

The food is good but their service is HORRIBLE.
We asked for the bill earlier before we finished our dinner. The workers immediately took away our food despite we kept telling them we were not done yet! They piled up the plates and there goes our dishes!
Dear Yume Cuisine, your food is nice but if you greed for more business with FAST turn around and CHASE AWAY YOUR CUSTOMERS… good luck to you in the future.
