Being my first visit to The Shepherdoo’s second outlet at One City, Subang Jaya (first outlet at Centro Mall, Klang), I was totally impressed by the cheerful Latin American interior.

The long and spacious restaurant is dressed in natural wood tone with colourful walls. Illumination majority comes from the natural sunlight penetrated through the glass panels and the dangling light bulbs.

Open kitchen concept to let the diners to catch a glimpse of the chefs at work.

There are two levels at The Shepherdoo, the stairs leading up to the upper floor is painted with bright yellow and adorned with framed photos which really heightening the vibrancy to a whole new level. The display cabinet filled with knick knack along the staircase sure will keep one’s eyes busy 😛

Smoked Duck Breast Salad with Caramelized Citrus Dressing (2 sets)

The starter served as a plate of salad consisted of smoked duck breast, cherry tomato and rock melon sitting on bed of crisp lettuce with appetizing citrus dressing. The sprinkles of edible flowers pretty up the whole dish.

P1095895

Carrot-Orange Seafood Clear Soup (2 sets)

Nice creamy texture in vibrant orangey hue, the thick soup had a subdued carrot taste but richly laced with robust citrus flavor. The seared scallops added another layer of dimension to the soup.

Main Course (choose 2 from the 3 choices given)

P1095898

Orange-Lemon Chicken Confit Accompanied with Melon Delight

The tempting chicken confit was served with rosti, greens salad and orange-lemon reduction. The chicken was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outer while the inner tenderness retained. The accompanied rosti was equally tantalizing too, slightly crispy on the edges and well flavoured.

Red Wine-Orange Skin Braised Angus Beef Short-Rib

P1095904

The beef rib was meticulously braised, while maintaining its form, it was fall-off-the-bone tender and had completely morphed with the red wine & orange skin flavor.

P1095913

Poached Norweign Salmon Coupled with Orange Zesty Mashed Juber

P1095907

Most probably my least favourite mains that day. The flavor of poached salmon was bordered on bland and lack of a “x-factor” to appeal to me. The presentation of the dish with those edible flower petals was appealing nonetheless.

P1095916

Blood-Orange Panna Cotta (2 sets)

Have you noticed that orange was associated in every dishes in this set menu? The dessert too, the panna cotta was brilliantly imbued with blood orange and topped with fresh fruits. A sweet conclusion to our romantic Valentine’s Day date.

Verdict: The Valentine’s Day set menu is quite worthy considering the portion and quality of food given. If you are scratching your head thinking of a place for your Valentine’s Day celebration but don’t want to burn a hole in your pocket, The Shepherdoo definitely your ideal choice!
