Collingwood Children’s Farm @ Melbourne
I have a confession. I have the urge to sing the infamous nursery rhyme aka “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” during my visit at this farm which is fantastically located within Melbourne City. Well, the farm has all the animals in the song and even more.
This place has been part of my hubby’s itinerary and both Sam & I did not regret it. It’s a good way to re-live how an old-fashioned westernised farm works and they do have great programs for kids and a good cafe to boot
Established in 1979, the Collingwood Children’s Farm nestled on the banks of Birrarung, 5km from the heart of Melbourne’s CBD. This non-profit organisation is Melbourne’s community farm which brings city people closer to land, animals and farm life.
The Collingwood Children’s Farm features a variety of farm animals including cows, sheep, goats, horses, chickens and pigs, geese, ducks, guinea pigs and many more. The farm not only provides a hands on and interactive farm experience but also offers programs and activities such as corporate volunteering opportunities, Riding Develops Abilities, school holidays program and community garden plots, just to name a few.
Entrance fee on June 2019 – Collingwood Children’s Farm is a self-funded community organisation. It does not receive any large, ongoing funding from any government, council or other organisations. The farm is funded through a combination of admission fees, accessing of grants, hiring of farm space for events and sale of produce and merchandise.
After we paid for the fee, we had our self-guided walk around the farm pens and paddocks in this working farm.

The farm wasn;t really big and we were delighted to see all those beautiful chooks, weird looking silkie chicken, adorable sheep with thick fur and funny bleating goats.
We couldn’t get enough of these cuties which they were eating non stop and snorted mischievously.
The hand feeding sheep and chased by them in the open paddock definitely an experience that Sam will remember and cherish for a long time. ♥‿♥

We stumbled upon this little gathering organised by a pet mice society where Sam had chance to cuddle and play with those cute fellas.

Wander through the rows of gorgeous blooms, veggie starts, and fruit trees, immersed ourselves in nature.
I really had the urge to pluck some of these lovely plump lemons.

Before leaving, we had coffee session at the The Farm Cafe nestled in the farm itself.
♥Verdict: Although the farm wasn’t really big but this place unquestionably a fantastic place for both kids and adults alike to get up close to a range of native and farmyard animals. I thought all the animals were well cared for and in good condition too, thumbs up to the management and community.

E-I-E-I-O! it’s nice to see these animals enjoying their lives outdoors in wide spaces as they should, compared to the ones that are cooped and cramped inside in the poultry factories etc.
Sean, those animals can wander freely in the farm definitely happier than those being kept in enclosures >_<
Ooo, those black pigs are cute….and delicious, I’m sure…haha! 😉 I heard that Berkshire pigs is the equivalent of what Kobe beef is to pork. So, did you milk any cows? Wuahahahaha! I don’t think I’d want to be chased by sheeps….kekeke! 😛

I don’t like either, but Sam love animals, so she is more than happy to be chased and “kissed”. LOL
