Kyõ Canteen @ Fortune Centra, Kepong
I reviewed their food before in THIS POST, now they moved to their own place situated in Fortune Centra, a mixed condominium & retail development in Taman Usahawan Kepong (behind Aeon Big Kepong).
The restaurant is located on second floor with both indoor (air-conditioned) and al-fresco (equipped with ceiling fans) seating. It’s a comfortable dining atmosphere with the all cream colour theme furnished with light wooden furniture.
The menu has expanded which is not only limited to Oden only, but also offers Donburi (Yakiniku Don, Chicken Teriyaki Don, Chicken Katsu Don, from RM16.90-RM22.90), Japanese Curry (Ebi Fry Curry Rice, Chicken Karaage Curry Rice, Katsu Curry Rice, from RM10.90-RM21.90), ala carte dishes (Nanban Chicken, , Takoyaki, Agedashi Tofu, Yasai Korokke, Miso Eggplant with Pork, Buta Kimchi & Tonkatsu, from RM6.90-RM15.90). The drink menu included the usual teas, soft drinks, soda drinks as well as the special Niko Neko Matcha drinks, priced from RM3.90-RM13.00.
Jumbo Bowl (RM14.90)
There were Udon, 2 pieces of Daikon (white radish) and a few processed food like king crab chunk, fish cake, cheese tofu, squid roll, lobster ball and Chikuwa. My favourite Daikon still tasted as great, soft and absorbed all the flavour of the Dashi soup. The broth was less salty this round yet suitably flavoured.
One can order the Oden set (from RM12.90-RM15.90) or choose your preferred ingredients from the list with more than 25 choices of ingredients, price ranging from RM2.50-RM7.00.
Japanese Curry Udon with Ajitama (RM11.90)
Katsu Don (RM18.90)
Both dishes were more than decent, nothing out of the ordinary.
Verdict: Hmm….. we had no complaint on the food but nothing to praise either. It’s a very wallet friendly simple meal that we call it comfort food and the Oden somehow suit my carbo-less diet (I’ll request to serve the Udon separately/takeaway next time =.=”), so I might consider to revisit.

When I think of oden, I think of processed food….and, unfortunately, there are other options of processed food I’m more eager to have but soaked up and soft radish chunks would be delicious for sure.
Kris, I don’t fancy processed food either, perhaps I’ll choose to have ala carte next time so I can get 5pcs of radish for my Oden bowl, haha!
I still have not tried oden but I always see people eating it at Family Mart. Besides it is mostly with processed foods which contain a lot of carbs.
PH, you’re right, mostly are processed food. 🙁
Seems like there are a lot of new eateries in Fortune Centra.
Simon, there are good selection in Fortune Centra as well as the surrounding areas.
