The Fat Fish @163 Retail Park, Mont Kiara
We drove to 163 Retail Park after Sam’s tuition class but hadn’t know what to eat. (´・ω・`) After loitering the whole mall, we decided to settle our lunch at The Fat Fish, a restaurant offers assorted seafood in its menu.
There is a mix of Japanese and Western cuisine featuring appetizers (RM18-25), soups, salads (RM8-40), pastas, udon (RM25-40), Don, rice (RM28-128) and and mains like lamb rack, Salmon steak and beef steak (RM42-105). The menu also covers good selection of fresh oysters from Ireland and France (RM18.50-21.50/pcs), Sashimi (RM100-280), Sushi (RM30-158), Makimono (RM28-45) and Temaki (RM12-18).
Both indoor and al-fresco (along the walkway) seating are available.
Fish Finger (RM32.00)
For the price charged, for sure I don’t want to be served with store-bought frozen fish fingers. We got a decent portion of deep fried fish fillets coated with airy and chewy batter. A squeeze of lemon helps to complement the natural flavors of the fish and enhanced the overall taste experience.
Barachirashi Don (RM40.00)
It’s a colourful rice bowl topped with diced Salmon, Maguro, Shiro Maguro, chopped Salmon, Tobikko, Tamago, cucumber, pickled ginger and shredded seaweed. We enjoyed immensely the top notch freshness of the fish as well as the varied textures from different ingredients in the dish.
Tsukimi Udon (RM28.00)
Springy Udon served in flavourful soy sauce based broth, accompanied with Tempura prawn, wobbly Onsen egg, Wakame and chopped scallion. However I would have hope the Tempura prawn can be served separately to avoid it becomes soggy. (´・_・`)
Verdict: The Fat Fish certainly is one of the better restaurants that I’ve eaten lately. It’s a good option if you’re looking for seafood meal in this area.
