Restoran Stay Fresh @ Taman Sri Sinar, Kepong
I read good reviews of Restoran Stay Fresh in Kepong foodie FB group mentioned that the restaurant is owned by a Hong Konger and serves authentic Hong Kong flavour. This attracted my attention because it is located on the same row with Sam’s tuition center, so we had lunch there after Sam’s class on one of the Saturday.
The restaurant has a simple setting and dining area is rather small.
As you can see, the menu isn’t too extensive with only three types of dishes – assorted roasted meat served rice or noodles, prawn Wonton and claypot rice. Roasted meat offered included roasted chicken, roasted duck, roasted pork (Siew Yoke) and BBQ pork (Char Siew).

Roasted Duck Wonton Mee (RM12.00)
The Wonton noodles were thin type with a pleasant “crunchy” texture however the flavour of the soup was disappointed, I thought it could do with a bit more seasoning.
The duck meat (I was given duck breast part) was not bad but not entirely amazing either.
The Wonton were encased with a whole prawn, as per stated in the menu, bouncy and satisfying.
Preserved Sausage + Char Siew Claypot Rice (RM13.00)
Crowned with thick cut Char Siew, sliced Lap Cheong (Chinese sausage), coriander, chopped spring onion, julliened ginger and chopped bird’s eye chili, the claypot rice was served with three types of sauce – sweet Char Siew sauce, soy sauce mixture and chili sauce. The Char Siew given was too fatty to our liking and the texture wasn’t as soft as we would have expected and it also lack of that distinctive smokey flavour of the barbecued pork. Add in the sauces to elevate the flavour however there was really nothing spectacularly memorable on this dish. ●︿●
Verdict: I have only been to Hong Kong once and have no comment of the authenticity of their food. Based on my personal preference, the food didn’t quite live up to my expectation as the flavour was too bland to my liking. As I aware the flavour of Hong Kong food is not as strong as ours, so it’s understandable that the food served at Stay Fresh didn’t suit my taste bud.

Never try never know, I hope the food suit your friend taste bud.
I also usually find Hong Kong food not suited to my tastebuds especially their roasted meats (which I think ours is better)…hehe.
Kris, I think the taste of those food from our local Cha Chan Teng is modified to suit our Malaysian taste bud, so I find it okay. But since this place serve authentic Hong Kong flavour (according to the review I read), so I think they are slightly under-seasoned for my liking.
