Team Udon @ TTDI, K.L

Do you have any preference on lighting of a restaurant that you visit? Warm white or cool white? Of course as a food blogger, I prefer the former as it makes food appears more appetizing by enhancing its natural colors and giving it a more inviting look. But when the warm white lighting is too yellowish/dim, it makes the photography more challenging.

On the other hand, the cool white lighting give the space a modern and clean look which is fully applied in the restaurant that I visited on last Sunday.

Team Udon, a specialised udon restaurant located in neighbourhood of TTDI. We were a bit caught off guard by the super bright interior once we stepped into the restaurant. It has a sleek, minimalist and clean interior with simple tables setting to accommodate individuals or groups of varying sizes.

The menu features not only classic Udon dishes like Niku Udon, Curry Udon, and Kitsune Udon but also unique creations that blending in local flavours such as Udon Lemak, Chili Crab Udon and Buttermilk Udon. For the adventurous ones, there are Matcha Udon with Matcha soup which is really out of my imagination. Udon is priced from RM10.80 to RM32.80. There are set for 2 pax and 4 pax which comprise Udon, side, drink and dessert (Mochi).

Lunch Combo

We opted for one set meal for 2 pax (RM45.00)

The set comes with two types of udon of your choice, a side, Mochi (4pcs) and 2 drinks.

Udon no.1 – Bukkake Udon

It’s a classic Udon served in hot Dashi broth, topped with onsen egg, Wakame, grated radish, Tenkasu Tempura flakes and chopped spring union. The broth was mild tasting yet packed with the essential umami flavour. The Udon was affectionately chewy.

Udon no.2 – Kitsune Udon

Sam had the simplest Udon served with Aburaage (fried tofu skin).

Chicken Gyoza were decent with a lovely crispy bottom and juicy meat filling.

Ponzu Wasabi Udon (RM14.80)

I opted for this cold Udon featuring cold Ponzu broth topped with onsen egg, Wakame, grated radish, Tenkasu Tempura flakes, chopped spring union and a dollop of Wasabi.

The Ponzu broth was piquant with a rather sharp vinegary flavour. The refreshing note of the broth might please some folks, but it simply wasn’t my preferential taste. πŸ˜› Something commendable was the Tenkasu Tempura flakes retained its crunchiness until I finished my last strand of noodle.Β

Verdict: Affordable simple meal, food was decent. We did not try any special flavours this round, next visit perhaps?
