The Art Noodles Lab 十三香味面馆 @ Residensi Perdana, Kepong
The Art Noodles Lab has been on my to try list for quite a while but this noodles specialty restaurant is often thronged with people during the weekend, which deterred me from visiting.
It was a Sunday morning where hubby and I didn’t have any plan for breakfast. We drove past The Art Noodles Lab and noticed that the usual queue was not in sight. This undoubtedly a good opportunity to tick this place off from my to-try-list.
The restaurant was full house and we seated at the waiting area on the walkway outside the restaurant.
Noodles take center stage in the menu with small selection of rice dishes, as well as a few choices toasts. Their visually appealing beverages also part of the attractive point and they are certainly made for Instagram (check out the rose shape ice).
The heart of the menu is belongs to their signature pork noodle which is presented in various of flavours. We were a bit caught off guard when we saw the steep prices of the noodles. >_<
The menu also features curry mee, seafood noodles, yellow wine soup noodles, Char Kuey Teow, handmade meat balls noodles, fried meehoon and porridge with homemade stock. Each types of noodles has extensive options of ingredients combo, but luckily the dishes are completed with description of ingredients.
Brilliant Hercules Coffee (RM7.90)
Don’t ask me why this coffee is named as Brilliant Hercules. =.=” There are many dishes in the menu are named with fancy pancy name like this.
Eighteen Storm Pork Noodles (RM18.99)
Haha, I know why it is called Eighteen Storm! It’s because the tell-take cloudy broth is the result of 18 hours boiling scallop and pork bones. There were pork tendon, minced pork, pork patty, crunchy fried pork lard and drizzles of fried onion oil to elevate the overall flavours. The pork broth was richly imbued with essence from the pork bones, as well as the umami from the scallop.
A bottle of wine is placed on each table, which the customers can help themselves to add into the soup for extra kick. 😛
Yellow Wine Chicken Drumstick + Pork Stomach + Egg Ginger Mee Suah (RM22.99)
It was a fully loaded bowl of noodles with a meaty chicken drumstick, generous amount of pork stomach, wood ear fungus, scrambled egg and shredded ginger. The good dose of fried garlic further amped up the flavour. The yellow wine broth was robust with mild hint of sweetness, and of course for a bibulous person myself, I added more wine to enhance the flavour. The portion was so generous that I think it can be shared by two small eaters.
Verdict: The premium prices are rationalized through the portion and the quality of the food. To be honest, both of the broths were a little too rich and stodgy for us, but if you prefer intensely flavoured soup, you may check out The Art Noodles Lab and let me know your verdict.

From the name, I thought I’d be looking at pretty-looking (like art) type of noodle presentation…lol. Wah, rice wine on the table to help yourselves…very generous. There’s this place serving steamboat (in my neighbourhood) that also had rice wine on the table but on a recent visit, it was not there anymore…haha. I guess some guests might have helped themselves to too much (and that cuts into their profit margin).
I like rich robust broths, so maybe this ngam my taste. The wine bottle looks nice and I like it that the restaurant lets customers help themselves to the wine. I once added too much at a (now closed) restaurant and felt a bit dizzy LOL!
I am a “liu” person so I kinda enjoy their noodles. Perhaps can try their seafood noodles next time … soup infused with some bunga kantan fragrance and taste , quite unique .
