Gerai Makanan Dan Mee Aik Kee @ Bentong, Pahang
We had an early dinner at Gerai Makanan Dan Mee Aik Kee after we left Ginger Heritage.
Nestled in Bentong town, Aik Kee is a local eatery known for its hearty Dai Chow style dishes which offers a nostalgic dining experience with its rustic and unpolished setting.
Located near the river, Aik Kee is a zinc roofed “stall” that provides semi-outdoor dining experience with a view of a mini sugar cane farm by the river bank. There are sufficient of ceiling fans to get the comfort level covered.
Like most of the Chinese Dai Chow establishments, the menu boasts a variety of dishes that showcase the rich flavors of Chinese-Malaysian cuisine. Common dishes like assorted stir fry and braised (pork, chicken, seafood, vegetables, bean curd), soups, as well as their special homemade delicacies such as Yam Basket (Fatt Putt), Braised Pork belly, Guang Xi Stuffed Bean Curd Puffs, Curry Pork Ribs and a few more.
Hokkien Mee
Cooked with their handmade noodles, the chewy and slightly al-dente texture was pretty satisfying and they were able to absorb the savoury soy sauce flavors of the dark sauce. No alkaline taste was detected and the consistency of the sauce was to my preference, not too wet nor dry.
Mui Choy Kau Yoke
Aik Kee offers two types of Kau Yoke, one is with Mui Choy (preserved mustard greens) and another one is with yam.
Lay gloriously on bed of Mui Choy that full of umami taste, the melt-in-your-mouth pieces of braised pork belly were packed with ambrosial and enticing sauce that really commands another helping of rice.
Fried Spring Roll
These rolls are praised for their crispy exterior and juicy, flavorful pork filling infused with five-spice seasoning.
Guangxi Stuffed Bean Curd Puffs – Soup
Juicy and overstuffed with fish paste and chives, this was really scrumptious. The broth was lovely and I found myself enjoying this so much. Good and comfort food really do wonders for my heart.
Verdict: Indeed a delightful dinner in this little town. If you are traveling to Bentong, do check out Aik Kee for some affordable hearty Chinese Dai Chow food.

Such places can dish out very good authentic food. I prefer my noodles more on the dry side. I guess if you pass this way again, you might revisit.
PH, it depends on the noodle dishes, for Hokkien Mee, I prefer mine dry and sticky. 😛
The fried spring roll has a super crispy look on the outside…yums! 😉 That mui choy kau yoke is begging for a bowl of rice to mop all that flavourful sauce.
Kris, sauce and also the Mui Choy really need more rice to polish it off!
