Collagen Soup: Beautifully Presented by Bone & Pot (Vouchers Giveaway!)
As a steamboat avid fans I can’t say NO to steamboat, so when review invitation from Bone & Pot knocked my door I accepted it with more than pleasure. ♪(*^^)o∀*∀o(^^*)♪
Bone & Pot 有骨气 is famed for its Hong Kong origins and concept and prides themselves with the quality pork bone soup base made from long simmering of bone which expelled its natural essence to the broth. Now the latest new addition to Bone & Pot soup base selection is this Collagen Soup (美人汤) which made from the highest quality fish scales flown in all the way from Japan. The concoction of the collagen jelly and their famous soup stock rendering a delicious broth with amazing skin-benefitting qualities.
What is Collagen?
Collagen is one of the key structural proteins in the body and accounts for one third of total protein in the body. It is primarily found in the skin, bones, tendons, cartilages and blood vessels. Collagen is instrumental in maintaining the structure of the skin, tissues, organs, as well as repairing any damaged tissues.
Collagen is good for our skin, it helps to brightening, firming, moisturising, nourishing and prevent the formation of wrinkles. The skin is the biggest organ in the human body. 70% of the skin’s dermis layer comprises collagen. The fibrous collagen forms a net-like structure that gives skin its elasticity. Collagen replenishes the nutrients needed by the skin and delivers water to the skin cells to keep them supple and firm, thus allowing the skin to maintain its moisture, resilience, smoothness and natural glow.
The milky white collagen jelly derived from deep sea marine sources imported fresh from Japan. I can feel the soft suppleness and resilience when I lightly pressed the collagen jelly, literally goodness that can be touched!
The collagen soup base is made from fresh pork bones and Bone & Pot’s secret blend of ingredients cooked for more than 8 hours in fresh chicken stock. Japanese collagen jelly is added once the flavors from the ingredients have been fully extracted and the soup is topped with red dates and wolfberries.
Priced at RM 22.00++ / pot, one will rewarded with a flavorful, thick and creamy pot of soup. The addition of red dates and wolfberries provide depth of flavour to the soup. Due to the lengthy preparation process of the collagen soup, there is only limited servings daily, please call for reservation to avoid disappointment.
Here’s are some ala carte ingredients that we had that day:-
Canadian Beef
Look at the beautiful marbling, just dip into the hot soup for a few seconds and you’ll rewarded with an achingly tender beef.
Homemade Pork Balls
Compact with good biting texture.
Crab Roe Balls
Oh, I’m totally fall in love with this! The filling was so moreish with popping texture from the crab roes.
Taiwanese Meat Balls with Mushroom
These pork balls have firmer texture if compared with the previous pork balls, infused with pleasant earthy flavor from the mushroom. Pretty good stuff.
Seafood Squid Balls
No chance savor this so no comment 😛
Homemade Shrimp Balls
Bouncy with fresh shrimp hiding within.
Sliced Pork
Definitely can’t miss for steamboat session.
Fried Bean Curd Sheet
These were too thin for my liking, I’d prefer thicker version for better flavors absorption of the soup.
Golden Bean Curd
We were served with this addictive golden bean curd while we were waiting for the steamboat. Deep fried till golden brown with sprinkles of seasonings, the bean curd was crispy on the outer and retained silky soft on inner.
As the ingredients added into the pot, the collagen soup which is originally mild in flavor was further enhanced. I felt like younger immediately after a few bowls of that soup, haha! Okay I’m too exaggerated!
We were at Bone & Pot Puchong outlet that evening. The shop is brightly lit equipped with glass table paired with posh & comfy chair. I like the cherry blossom mural on the wall which added liveliness to the overall dining environment.
Sauces are placed on every table, one can concoct your own dipping sauce by mix and match the fermented bean curd sauce, sambal belacan chili sauce, dry shrimp chili sauce, Siamese green chili sauce and crispy fried garlic.
Verdict: Quality soup base and freshly made ingredients, this is what I want for a satisfying steamboat meal!
