Hai Kah Lang @ Jalan Imbi (TRX)
Hai Kah Lang has been awarded with the Michelin Bib Gourmand accolade for two (or 3? ◔_◔) consecutive years. From a humble small restaurant in Cheras offers fresh seafood noodles to a chain restaurant with perpetual long queue at all outlets is a clear endorsement of its popularity.
The waiting crowd on Sunday morning when we were leaving after our meal, circa 11.40am.
To be honest, I was deterred by the queue and never had the urge to visit any Hai Kah Lang outlets but why this visit? Still remember I’ve told you guys that my beauty salon (for my facial treatment) is located right opposite TRX, hubby suggested that we could try our luck to check out this place after my recent facial appointment.
The waiting line was still manageable when we arrived at 11am, so decided to join the queue. Our second attempt on recent first day of Hari Raya holiday at Sea Park, P.J was unsuccessful due to the snaking queues that formed from the shop entrance to the road side. ε-(´ω`●)
We were given the menu did the order while in line. The menu is rather straightforward with choices of noodles served with variety of soup bases (clear, milk, tomato, curry, Tom Yum), dry noodles or porridge, paired with startling array of seafood included assorted species of fish, clam, squid, prawn and crab (from RM11.90-32.90, and some are charged based on seasonal price). There are also many choices of snacks such as Braised Giant Grouper (RM49.90), Mentai Salad (RM13.90), Baby Octopus (RM13.90), Fried Fish Cake (RM8.90), Fresh Oyster (RM14.90/pcs), Fried Prawn Paste Fish Slices (RM20.90), Jelly Fish with Ice Plant (RM17.90), and many more.
Different varieties of fresh seafood in the fish tanks and being displayed on ice.
The spacious indoor and outdoor dining area.
Iced Coffee (RM4.90)
Mix Seafood Noodle (RM28.90)
Indecisive about what seafood topping(s) to choose? Just get this Mix Seafood Noodles (or porridge) which generously laden with fresh flower crab, fish slices, clams, prawn and squids. With the combination of all those seafood, the clear soup showcased a sweet wholesome flavour, as well as a rather strong cooking wine taste that I just couldn’t get enough. Further elevated obthe flavour of the broth were handful of coriander, spring onion and fried garlic bits.
Milk Soup Fish Head Noodle (RM17.90)
The fried fish head was served separately to remain the crunchiness of the fish head. The milky broth had a good dose of savoury with hint of mild sourness from the diced tomatoes and Pickled mustard green (Ham Choy). The fried onion oil amplified the overall flavour.
Verdict: Despite the long queue and the parking issue at this area, we enjoyed our meal at Hai Kah Lang and it’s certainly a viable option for seafood noodles.

The mix seafood noodles look very good! I am glad that the wait was worth it for you.
PH, I’m quite happy that I tried this place without needed to wait too long in the queue.
This fresh seafood noodles place is one I hope to taste one day (and hopefully without having to queue long)….but your first photo is really frightening (until now the crowd has not subsided in all their branches)…haiz.
Kris, I had the same thought with you as the long queue that I saw in social medias were terrible and it really deterred my visit. My friend commented in my FB that she went the Sri Petaling branch during non peak hours, the wait was shorter, maybe you can try your luck there.
