Senjyu @ e@Curve

We were at Ikea recently to do some furniture shopping and the cafe was crowded so we proceeded  a little further to The Curve & e@Curve (formerly known as Cineleisure Damansara) to get our lunch. Loitering around and someone was making noise because of hunger so we picked Senjyu where we stood right at its facade that time >.<

Senjyu which means ‘eternity of life’ was established since 2008 with its first outlet located at e@Curve (this branch was closed down: latest update on January 2015) and the second outlet at Bangsar Village II. When I first read about Senjyu was regarding their premium sushi selection such as wagyu beef, foie gras and giant air-flown scallop but all these not our choices that day 😛

Dressed in dim light and tastefully decorated with plenty of recycled green wine bottles, the restaurant exuded a comfy vibe for a relaxing dining session.

Various styles of seating to be chosen included the common wooden tables and chairs, curved booth seats and tatami style seats.

Edamame (RM 6.00++)

Our obligatory order during Japanese meal because Sam love it 🙂

Familiar Japanese dishes dominate the quite an extensive menu with a selection of assorted set meals. FYI, there is conveyer belt sushi too.

Nabeyaki Udon to California Maki Zen (RM 38.00++)

A huge set that can be shared by 2 small eaters which comprised of:-

IMG_7767

A pipping hot pot of soupy udon with a tempura prawn, fish cakes, seaweed and spring onion. I always prefer udon to soba for its springy texture and this was well prepared; mild flavored soup and udon with great texture.

IMG_7765

The California maki on the other hand was a bit below par, the rice was not packed tightly and the tobiko were covered unevenly on the sushi.

 Other side dishes included in the set: salad, pickled vegetables and chawanmushi.

Sushi to Mini Udon Set (RM 36.00++)

IMG_1474

Slightly different with the previous set, this mini serving of udon was served in a bowl.

The sushi were average and I like the generous size of the ingredients.

Other side dishes included in the set: salad, pickled vegetables and chawanmushi.

Sashimi Moriawase (RM 38.00++)

IMG_1464

The freshness of these thick cut sashimi was on top notch and definitely can satisfy one’s craving! Served with some appetizers, white rice, miso soup & chawanmushi.

IMG_7758

Chicken Teriyaki-Jyu (RM 16.00++)

A large piece of grilled chicken marinated in a sweet teriyaki sauce, nothing really to pin point but nothing to praise either 🙂

IMG_7759

Miso soup and pickled daikon in the set.

IMG_7775

Strawberry Parfait (RM 10.00++)

A reward for Sam for finishing her food 🙂 Layers of vanilla ice cream, read bean and corn flakes topped with strawberry and chocolate syrup.

Verdict: Price is certainly on high side and not really a place we can go often but the set meals are quite worth of $ considering the portion given. Still not a bad choice if you happen to be at this area.
