The Grocer’s Kitchen @ IPC Shopping Centre
Hubby wanted to shop for his new working desk and chair, hence we were at Ikea and after we are done, we continued to have my weekly grocery shopping at Ben’s Independent Grocery (BIG). Since we were at the mall, I suggested to settle our dinner there as well.
It’s been almost five years since our last dine in at this food court nestled inside BIG. There are some changes on the F&B choices, like the one we tried previously was permanently closed.
The full fledged menu boasts a good selection of western delights included all-day-dining breakfasts, salads, soups, pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, pastas and deli. Additionally, there are a few Tex-Mex classics too such as Taco, Burritos and rice bowls.
Grill Platter for 2 (RM60.00)
Hubby and I shared the platter which comprised of a piece of Striploin, a piece of Rosemary Lamb, a piece of Honey Mustard Chicken, two Country Chicken Sausages and 1 side dish (but 2 sides is mentioned in the menu). (┙>∧<)┙
We weren’t asked for the doneness of the striploin when we placed order and the steak was cooked to a rare which is too rare to our liking. Although the steak came with beautiful grill marks and delicious rubs, however the texture of the meat failed to impress. It contained several connective tissues which made the steak rather chewy.
Both the lamb chop and sausages were less exciting.
The Honey Mustard Chicken was rather good though. It was well marinated but I wished they used chicken thigh instead of chicken breast for a more enjoyable texture.
Spaghetti Beef Bolognese (RM20.00)
Sam’s usual option was in very generous portion, both the pasta and the meat sauce.
The weekday set lunch promo.
Verdict: On the whole, the food not something that I’ll leave an impression.

Yeah, that steak looks a little too rare for me too. To eat it that rare, the meat quality has to be top notch….but RM60 for that amount of meat is a pretty fair deal. ^_~

Too bad that the food was a disappointment. The grill platter looked good and I don’t mind the rare doneness of the meat though I also concerned how fresh is the meat at the restaurant. Scared get food poisoning!
