Melbourne-based I Love Pho has fanned out into Malaysia serving its much loved Pho, a popular Vietnamese street food which consisting of broth, rice noodles, herbs and meat, primarily made with either beef (phở bò) or chicken (phở gà). The first outlet is located in Ben’s Independent Grocer at IPC Shopping Centre, Mutiara Damansara.

Housed in the grocer’s dining space, other offerings include bakery, oyster bar,Japanese food, ice cream, beer bar and more. There are sufficient of seating spread around the airy and comfortable dining area.

Pho options here come in three varieties – beef, chicken and vegetarian. I Love Pho Express also offers some classic Vietnamese dishes and drinks such as Vietnamese noodle salad, rice paper rolls, fried spring rolls, Vietnamese drip coffee, Vietnamese tea and 3 Colour (Vietnamese three colour bean dessert).
This is a self-service place, you order and pay at the counter. You’d be given a coaster pager that will beep once your orders are ready and you can collect your food from the counter.

Special Beef Pho Combo(RM21.90)
I got myself a bowl of beef Pho completed with all the trimmings included sliced beef, brisket, beef ball, tendon and tripe. Raw bean sprout, basil, lime wedges and chili oil were served separately.

It was a BIG BOWL but the portion was kind of opposite especially the ingredients, for that price, I really hoping for more! I got 2 beef balls, 2-3 pieces of tripe, tendon, brisket and a few thinly sliced beef. I thought they could be more generous with the beef offal.
The broth was less satisfying as well. The flavour didn’t as pronounced as I would have liked, it was mild or should I describe it as bland? I think I should add in fish sauce or soy sauce to jazz up the flavour a bit. The accompanied chili oil was good though.

Sliced Beef Pho (RM19.90)
Hubby’s bowl of noodle was equally skimp on the sliced beef.
Verdict: I have a lot more better Pho options at my disposal (eg: THIS) and this place certainly wouldn’t make it to my revisit list.

I find Vietnamese beef broth to be very mild. No kick for me unlike our local beef noodles (the good ones of course).
PH, Vietnamese version is milder but not bland like this >_<
I have to agree with PH. Vietnamese pho doesn’t seem to have the robust flavours of our local beef noodles or Taiwan’s version. Maybe I haven’t encountered a good bowl of pho yet. And I agree with you, the pho I’ve eaten at Vietnamese restaurants, they tend to skimp on the beefy stuff. 🙁
Kris, you may try An Viet, rather good version for me, hopefully it meet your expectation too.
I’d love to see more vege served tho! In Vietnam it’s always loads!
KY, but I don’t like the raw bean sprouts, very “green” in taste =.=”
