Young Sanna Mee @ Bandar Menjalara, Kepong
Young Sanna Mee at Bandar Menjalara has been doing quite well since its opening in 2022, although this commercial area houses with variety options of eateries. The restaurant is often thronged with people during weekends and we pass by often but had no impetus to walk in. Well finally….
It was a rainy Saturday, the chilling weather called for tummy warming food such as hotpot, which is one of the signature food at Restaurant Young Sanna Mee.
The full house scene during dinner time on weekend. The space is brightly lit with framed food photos decorate the walls, and the tables are placed rather close to each other.
Sanna Mee served in heated rock pot is the signature dish at Young Sanna Mee. The dish has implemented the concept of sauna bath which is claimed to transfer a variety of healthy elements that are beneficial to our body, like calcium, iron, mag-nesium which will be emitted into the food through a high-temperature cooking process.
Diners can customize their Sanna Mee (RM18.90-RM30.90) by choosing type of soup base (Fish, Vege, Herbal , Tomato and Mala), protein (seafood, fish paste, abalone, Salmon, pork shoulder, pork balls, & etc), noodles (pumpkin noodles,, buckwheat noodles, rice noodles and spinach noodles) and rice (white rice and brown rice). There is mini hotpot, rice dishes (Korean Bimbibpa, assorted fried rice, Rice with Butter Milk Fish), noodles dishes (stir fried noodles, braised noodles), Sushi rolls and good selection of snacks (Gyoza, Fried Chicken Wings, Fried Mantou with Bak Kwa, Red Bean Pumpkin Pies, Fruit Salad, Vietnamese Spring Rolls and Korean Spicy Chicken).
Three types of chili dipping – they are explosively spicy.
Fish Sanna Mee (RM18.90 + RM2.00 upgrade soup – Herbal Soup)
Pork Shoulder Sanna Mee (RM24.90)
Salmon Sanna Mee (RM23.90)
Fish soup and vege soup are free of charge, RM2 is charged for upgrading to others soup bases. Taste wise, they were mild tasting without overwhelming seasonings. Soup is refillable too. If you think the portion of the Sanna Mee is not too sufficient for you, there are many add on ingredients such as sliced meat, meat balls, fried bean curd sheets, vegetables and mushrooms, for a more filling and satisfying meal.
Young Sanna Mee promote the healthy diet which advocating the dietary concept of 80:20 food ratio (80% of vegetables and 20% of meat) and five-element five-color food therapy ( namely “golden, wood, water, fire, and earth”, represent the corresponding five internal organs, “lung liver, kidney, heart, and spleen). So, one ca get good varieties of vegetables and mushrooms in the dish.
Verdict: I quite like the Sanna Mee which can accommodate my carbo-less diet nicely (make a request to serve the noodles/rice separately). In spite of the mixed Google Reviews (mostly are regarding the service), my dining experience at Restaurant Young Sanna Mee was above average and I will say that this is an option to consider if I’m at this area.

I also have a branch in my neighbourhood (also opened about 2 years ago) but have not stepped in. My family is not much of a fan of ching and soupy stuff. 🙁
Kris, there are a few choices of rice dishes, noodles and sushi rolls as well.
