Hana Japanese Dining @ IPC Shopping Centre

From the restaurant’s history printed in their menu, A Plus Dining Sake Bar was established at Taipei in 1997, and was the first restaurant introduced fusion Japanese cuisine in Taiwan. Hana Japanese Dining is their second oversea branch (first branch is located at Sunway Pyramid) which inherits A Plus Dining Group 22 years experience to offer modern and creative Japanese cuisine for Malaysians.

We were quite early at IPC Shopping Centre for some last minute CNY shopping and after loitering around the mall for a few minutes, we decided to settle our brunch at Hana Japanese Dining located on ground floor.

The restaurant was just opened and we were there even earlier than some of their staffs (included the chef as we needed to wait for quite a while for our food to be prepared ●︿●)

The restaurant has a casual vibe furnished with both normal dining tables and cushioned chairs as well as banquette seats against the walls. Modern ambient lighting and a long Izakaya mural completed the interior.

Hana Japanese Dining holds great pride for its impressive collection of Sake and Whisky, other options such as beers, wines, cocktails, mocktails, juices and teas also can be found in the menu.

Green Tea – Hot (RM2.00)

The large menu proffers a delectable range of Japanese food to tempt your taste bud which includes tapas and Kushiyaki to be enjoyed with your “happy juice”,  assorted appetizers, Wagyu dishes, the essential Sashimi, Sushi, Nigiri, Shirumono, Makimono, Temaki, Yakimono, Agemono, Teppanyaki, Nabemono, Gohan, wide variety of set meals, dessert and even Omakase Course.

Tamago Mentaiko Don (RM15.00)

Sit on bed of Japanese steamed rice, there were three pieces sizable Tamago topped with creamy mayo mentaiko and blow torched for that charred, smoky finish. Simple ingredients but great satisfaction! Served with miso soup.

Nabeyaki Udon (RM26.00)

Sam, the noodles lover opted to have her favourite soupy udon with prawn Tempura, chicken cubes, mushroom, vegetables, fish cakes and egg. The broth was lightly flavoured, it was just a safe bet, nothing to shout about but nothing really to pin point either.

Business Course Lunch – 1 x Standard + 1 x Premium Selection (RM40.00)

Complimentary starters for the Business Course Meal (lunch: 11.30am to 6.00pm & dinner: 6.00pm to 10.00pm) included salad, Chawanmushi, miso soup, fruits, drink (refillable hot/cold green tea or ice lemon tea – non refillable)

The Business Course Meal (lunch or dinner) is charged according to the mains you choose eg: 2 x Standard Selection is RM30.00 for lunch and RM40.00 for dinner while 2 x Premium Selection is RM50.00 for lunch and RM60.00 for dinner.

Staple (Japanese steamed rice, hot/cold soba or udon)

Main – Saba Shioyaki

Not a very big serving of salt grilled Saba but luckily it was quite a meaty one.

Premium Selection- Assorted Sashimi

To satisfy Sam’s craving for Sashimi, we opted for this from the Premium Selection. The Salmon, Butterfish and Tuna was decent and I’m glad to see that real Shiso leaf instead of the plastic one          d(>_・ )

Verdict: For standard of a restaurant in shopping mall, the price range was reasonable. Portion and food wise, not entirely impressive but decent if you need your Japanese food fix.
