Oh Mai Bar-becue @ Mai Bar, Aloft KL Sentral
After a long week of hectic work schedule especially on this beginning stage of the GST implementation which really increases my workloads. I was literally dead-tired after work hours so when the buddies called for a happy hour session I was happily accepted it!
We arrived at Mai Bar located at Rooftop level, Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral on at Friday evening. Being my first visit I was pretty impressed by the interior of this Polynesian themed bar.
I was greeted by a groovy and funky filled space once I stepped into Mai Bar. The red lighted bar in wavy shape commands the attention to everyone who walks in.
The eclectic mix of alcohols and wines looks so stunning under the neon blue and red light.
An cozy sofa seats other than the common high tables and chairs is available too at Mai Bar. The funky vibe and décor makes a great play on jiving up the fun and happy mood.
The alfresco lounge screams for attention too. Surrounded by Tiki totems, overlooking the infinity pool accompanied by the splendid KL’s skyline.
The music was jazzing up and the crowd started trickling in, we had a few their signature cocktails to set the right mood to welcome our Friday night!
Front: Mojito Classic (RM 35.00)
Back: Malaysian Princess Mai Tai (RM 38.00)
Mai Bar’s signature drink that consists of silver rum pressed with blueberries and kaffir lime, topped with golden rum, pineapple and orange juice.
Raspberry Tulip (RM 30.00)
Guinness Stout (RM 30.00)
Complimentary peanuts in various flavors, great to go with some beers 😛
The culinary team in Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral has whipped up a really good barbecue spread in Mai Bar and we definitely didn’t want to miss the chance to savor some of them.
Texas Styled Beef with Pineapple and Herbs & Cajun Tiger Prawns served with corn on the cob, baked potatoes and grilled vegetables. I love the bouncy fresh prawns, slightly seasoned and I can tasted the original flavor of the crustacean. There are also 3 dipping of mushroom sauce, black pepper sauce and BBQ sauce for that extra oomph for your skewers.
Turkish Style Chicken Breast with Paprika and Yogurt & Greek Style Barbecued Squid with Olive Oil
With live cooking at the barbecue pit, the skewers are guaranteed to be freshly grilled with all the juicy goodness in it. The squid had a soft chewy texture, nicely infused with herbs and marinade. The chicken breast was equally tantalizing. Marinaded with the unique paprika and yogurt, the chicken breast remained its tenderness with robust herbaceous taste.
BBQ Quail
The availability of quail was quite surprised us, the petite bird was grilled to perfection with flavorful skin and succulent flesh hidden beneath.
Chicken Sausages
Available from 5pm to 8pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the barbeque skewers are priced from RM 10.00 nett onwards. And that’s not it! Happy hour is available at Mai Bar from 5pm to 8pm daily – so it is double happiness with drinks at great price to pair up with the good food. Happy hour pricing is extended to beers, wines and cocktails.
Other than the BBQ items, we have sample a few dishes from the regular menu.
Beef Steak Tacos (RM 25.00)
Chicken Taquiza Tacos (RM 21.00)
Pizza Margherita (RM 28.00)
Beef Chicago Pizza (RM 25.00)
Taste wise, both pizzas were embodied in full cheesy glory that won’t disappointed the cheese lovers.
Verdict: Certainly a great happy hour spot to unwind and laid back with a glass of their special concocted cocktail. I especially recommend the outdoor seats which can admiring the city’s night views with a nice breeze while chilling out.
