Ra-Ft @ Lorong Binjai, Kuala Lumpur
I’ve bookmarked Ra-Ft after reading the “genuine/honest” reviews of her. She love the food here so much that rendered her multiple visits (included its second outlet at Mont Kiara) for both breakfast and dinner.
I would never thought of there is a cafe so well hidden in the apartment right behind the Intercontinental Hotel.
Ra-Ft was having a busy day during our visit on a Saturday for brunch. We were greeted graciously by the staff once we pushed open the glass door and ushered to the banquette seat near the windows. This place definitely has the feel of spaciousness, high ceiling and lots of room between the tables. The cafe has a chic contemporary setting decorated with modern geometric steel and wood fixtures, exposed brick wall and ambient lighting. One of the wall is adorned with rows of potted plants which add liveness to the overall ambiance.
Comfortable sofas near the entrance and more seating at the back of the cafe.
There’s a play area for kids too at Ra.Ft, parent with kids definitely can have a “peaceful” meal here. ^__*
We were lucky to get the window seat which ceiling-to-floor glass panels provide plenty of sunlight – great for some perfect food shots.
The floor tiles are very lovely too, don’t they?
If you like to have your meal under the sun overlooking the greenery, their al fresco dining area will definitely fit the bill.
Ra-Ft Breakfast (RM32.00)
Hubby’s option was a very princely serving of breakfast platter with full workings of essential which comprised streaky bacon (2pcs), chicken or pork sausage, eggs of your choice (scrambled eggs or sunny side up), butter mushrooms, smashed potatoes, roasted tomatoes, baked beans and a slice of homemade bread with butter.
Let’s check one by one the components on the plate! The baked bean most probably the canned baked beans while the cherry tomatoes, I would have hoped for a more generous amount and roast a bit more longer for a nice smoky finish. The smashed potato topped with melted cheese was slightly under-seasoned though, but I can live with that 🙂
The pork sausage was the star in the platter, it’s pleasantly juicy with bursting flavours as well as a skin that produced satisfying crunch when bitten into. Perfectly done sunny side up, stir fried mushrooms with parsley was aromatic and delicious, even the homemade bread was good too, crusty and chewy. Now we know where to go for a good breakfast!
Tuna Sweet Corn Bagel (RM19.50)
Thick spread of tuna with sweet corn and thin cucumber slices sandwiched between the toasted bagel was pale in comparison with the breakfast platter, it was nothing to shout about.
Ra-Ft Spaghetti Bolognese (RM26.00)
Sam had her usual pasta. The Spaghetti Bolognese was sufficiently dressed in delicious minced beef tomato sauce with generous sprinkles of shaved cheese.
Verdict: It’s a feel-good cafe with nice dining environment accompanied by soft background music and attentive service. Prices are fair although the food we had not entirely great (the bagel was just mediocre) but the breakfast platter certainly manage to induce repeat visits to Fa-Ft!
