Sekeping Jugra @ Old Klang Road, KL

Sekeping Jugra is one of the guesthouse under The Sekeping Retreats which is now includes a total of six guesthouses in the Klang Valley, Serendah, Ipoh and Penang. I was at Sekeping Jugra last month for the birthday gathering cum 10 years anniversary celebration with my ‘Makan Gang’. We knew each other via a Chinese forum 10 years ago, we share the same love for food and interacted in the internet for years. Finally one day we had our first gathering and that marked the beginning of our precious friendship.

We had shortlisted a few venues for your staycation and Sekeping Jugra was our final decision (obviously =.=”) for its convenient location and the attractive pool view which is good for photography. Of course the price range is within our budget as well. LOL

Located in a quiet neighbourhood at Old Klang Road, Sekeping Jugra is a single-storey house built in the 1950s. The original house was split into eight spaces creating an office, spaces for both short and long-term stay, several co-working spaces and an event space.

The main entrance without any signage and there are 2 other entrances for different group of guests. There are 4 types of rooms in the premise and option of renting the whole premise or any individual room is available. Every group is given a set of key for the  assigned entrance. We only rented 2 rooms that day, that’s why I know the “rule”. 😛

The aforementioned swimming pool which is rather photogenic and Instagrammable ^__^ .

The Dining area with cement communal table and metal chairs near the entrance is one of the common area for all the guests.

The living room where we had our drinking and snacking session. ^__* It is air-conditioned and equipped with ceiling fan as well. Wifi is provided also.

Kitchen is separated into two sections and shared by all guests as well. The cooking area at outdoor is equipped with stoves, a thermal pot, chopping board and a wok, but be warned that it was not in very good condition aka dirty during our stay. Luckily one of our friend is staying nearby, so he just brought a frying pan from his house for our breakfast preparation the next morning.

The fridge, cooking utensils such as spatula, knives, plates, bowls, cups and cutlery can be found at the indoor kitchen. They also prepared iron, hair dryer, mosquito coils as well as 3-in-1 cereal drink. Their website mention about the oven toaster but we were informed that it was not available when requested it from the caretaker.

This is the courtyard room we got which is connected with the indoor kitchen. The space isn’t really big, furnished with two single beds, a side table with drinking water and two bath towels.

The bathroom is beautifully blend with the natural surrounding, you can have your shower or “big business” session accompanied by trees, sunlight and insects buzzing sound. LOL Please bring your own toiletries as only shower gel is provided.

The design that annoyed us is this see-through window which can peep into the bathroom from the room. So kindly lock the door which is connecting to the kitchen when using the bathroom. >_<

The courtyard attached to the bedroom with sofas, lounge chairs, red brick walls, trees, Roman columns and climbing plants.

Walk through the door at the courtyard, there is another space with pebble ground, adorned with more trees and plants. It lead to our Maxi Courtyard Room.

It’s the largest guest room in Sekeping Jugra and the room is equipped with two single beds too. Amenities are the same with the previous room.

The bathroom is with more privacy but the design of the wc is a bit……. weird. You may check out in their website galley HERE. =.=”

The room overlooking the serene courtyard.

The roof farm or roof garden filled with some edible plants like chili and herbs.

This is one of the event space here and all the semi-private living and work spaces are all interconnected via narrow alleyways, gardens and courtyards.

Remark: Photos without watermark are from their website.

Verdict: If you want a staycation in the city but secluded from all the hustle bustle, Sekeping Jugra is quite an ideal place. There are restaurants located at the main road (Old Klang Road) which is just a few minutes walk from the premise if you don’t wish to prepare your meal here. But I believe it is not suitable for family with young kids due to the design and the location of the swimming pool.
