The Butcher’s Table @ SS2, P.J
The Butcher’s Table located at SS2, Petaling Jaya is helmed by Mr. Ho which previously owned Mr Ho’s Fine Foods in Bangsar Shopping Centre in the late 1990s and early 2000s, serving up assorted porky goodies included premium sausages and roast pork.
After a 10-year absence from the F&B scene, Mr. Ho starts his new adventure The Butcher’s Table at one of the hub of eateries in Petaling Jaya – SS2. The interior of the restaurant is minimalist with wooden communal tables and long benches.
There are good selections of Mr. Ho’s housemade sausages and ham on sale too.
The meat-centric menu offers small selection of salads, mains such as smoked pork knuckle, baby back ribs, grilled chicken chop, salted beef, sausages, pastas, fried rice, sausages, soups and assorted side dishes like sauerkraut, mashed potato, coleslaw, garlic rice and etc.
Aglio Olio with Mushrooms (RM15.00) + Crispy Roasted Pork (RM6.00 – half)
It was a very spicy and garlicky plate of Aglio Olio, every spoonful hit the palate with a punchy chili kick, opt for non- spicy version if you can’t take spicy food. The add on roasted pork was decent, crunchy skin with adequate fat-to-lean meat ration. The flavor could be a little more stronger though.
Signature Pork Burger (RM30.00)
Sandwiched between the charcoal buns, there were house made pork patty with good dose of herbs note, nicely cooked sunny-side-up, melted cheese, gherkin, tomato and lettuce. The flavours combination was delicious and works well enough to leave a positive impression.
Bacon Fried Rice (RM15.00)
The fried rice was equally well prepared. It was fluffy and flavourful studded generously with bacon, ham, egg and spring onion. The only gripe was that the dish was a bit greasy.
Verdict: Overall a rather satisfying porky meal and I definitely would like to try out their gourmet sausages on my next visit.
