Podgy & The Banker+ @ The Verve Shops, Mont Kiara
I walked out Podgy & The Banker+ feeling truly disappointed~~
It was a beautiful Sunday and we were at this beautiful place of Podgy & The Banker+ nestled at Verve Shops at Mont Kiara which also houses a few cafes such as B-Lab, D’Fong & La Casa.
A sunlight-blessed cafe with sleek and minimalist in design. Spacious place with the eye catching tiled signage, black metal rack and sparingly adorned with glass bottles and book. Diners can choose to sit comfortably at the air-conditioned indoor or chilled at the al-fresco area.
Interesting details such as the pretty dangling lampshades and the potted plants add liveliness to the cafe.The atmosphere was just relaxed enough for a good meal ahead, but did it just went like what we were expected? Read on..
Orange juice came with the Big Breakfast. I’m glad that it was a “real” fruit juice LOL
Upbeat Cold Press Juice (RM 13.00)
Big Breakfast (RM 27.00)
The portion not really justified its name of Big Breakfast. It irked me a lot when the dish is named “BIG” but the portion is unable to provide any satisfactory for my stomach.
2 eggs on toasts, hash brown, chicken sausage, beef bacon, stir fried mushroom with cheery tomatoes, onions and corn. Taste wise, everything was pretty standard and nothing to shout about. For that price, I was really hoping for a bigger portion.
Egg Royale (RM 19.00)
Two nicely executed poached egg sit on bed of smoked Salmon and English muffin, sprinkled with spring onions. The accompanied Hollandaise sauce possessed a flavor that bordered on bland, definitely lie below my expectation. The presentation looked plain too, it could be better if served with some vegetables.
Verdict: Food definitely not up to par and the price was not really affordable for the portion offered.

I seriously don’t understand why you guys are willing to impart your money by paying thru your nose on this kinda breakfast? RM27 for a plate of stuffs which barely costs RM5? Silly isn’t it? Or maybe you’re thinking I’m so cool to dine in this kinda environment!
I understand that we can prepare such breakfast at home which most probably only cost less than half of the selling price but sometimes we just lazy, LOL But usually we will try to have something which is more special and not easily prepared at home 😛
for the price the portion for “big breakfast” memang not overly inspiring, I agree.

I think (possibly) the portions are not ‘big’ because (maybe) they factored the price of the fruit juice into the breakfast. These juices easily cost RM10 at these cafes. Portion size aside, the ingredients on the breakfast platter didn’t even look like they were house-made (the sausage and hash brown look like processed ones). I’ve read that this place had quite good reviews and is popular. Luckily, when I was here, I went to the other one, La Casa. Though prices may be slightly higher, at least I was truly satisfied with the food.
