Choon Fatt Kopitiam @ Kepong Baru

I never expected the long waiting queue when I arrived at Choon Fatt Kopitiam on a Sunday morning, even the lady in front of me in the queue also told me the same as a regular customer of this place.

The tables in the shop were overly cramped and there were outdoor seating too which we preferred, because it’s more airy and comfortable.

The noodle cooking station is set at the entrance while the beverages are prepared further inside the shop, at the main dining area.

Despite being named as Kopitiam, their menu offers many unconventional dishes in addition of the usual Kopitiam fares. Western delights such as burgers, pastas, chicken chop, lamb chop and pork chop were served here.

Hainan Tea (Small-RM 2.20) & Egg Tart (RM2.60)

The egg tart was decent with buttery flaky tart crust.

Half Boiled Eggs (RM2.90/2 eggs)

Roti Hainan Bakar with Kaya & Butter (RM6.00/2pcs)

The bread was well toasted with crisp outer, sandwiched with the fragrant Kaya (coconut jam) and butter slices. Dip this into the my perfectly cooked soft boiled egg, this combination indeed match made in heaven! Who like to eat like this too? ٩(^▿^)۶

Char Siew Burger (RM8.90)

Out of curiosity and for the sake of trying, we ordered this Char Siew Burger which I presumed is their signature dish because it is the first item in the burger list. (◔_◔)

It did not hit us with big surprise as the flavour and texture of the barbecued pork wasn’t to my liking. We were given quite a fatty pieces of Char Siew and together with the shredded cabbage and mayo, whole ensemble just quite ordinary.

Dry Wonton Mee (RM7.80)

I opted for noodles with braised chicken feet and  mushroom but due to they ran out of mushrooms, I was given extra braised chicken feet.

The Wonton Mee was nicely cooked with the right texture as I’d like it to be. However the flavour of the sauce missed the mark, it was too sweet which wasn’t my preferential flavour for dry Wonton Mee.

♥Verdict: So sorry to say that the food we had didn’t impress us much on our initial visit and I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t return anytime soon. (-_-)

  • LOL @ angmoh breakfast.

  • Judging from the menu it looked quite promising. Besides, the long queue suggested that the food must be good. Too bad it did not meet your expectations.

  • Wow, even a kopitiam can charge close to RM30 for a big breakfast but for that price, I’d rather have it in an angmoh cafe…lol. P/S: Me, me, I like to eat my hainan toast (with butter & kaya) dipped in soft-boiled eggs just like you. Initially, I thought it would be weird but was surprised with the sweet & savoury (with added soy) combo….and I’ve been eating it like this ever since. I agree….a match made in heaven…wuahahahaha!

    • Kris, agreed you that I rather eat at a more comfortable & air-conditioned cafe for the food being charged with that price. For bread + half boiled egg combo, I refer steamed bread, which the bread is easily absorb the egg mixture, until almost can melt-in-my-mouth, yummy~~

  • Dear Sir and Madam,

We are from the Buddhist community in Malaysia and we want to inform more about Datuk Yip Kum Fook on social media or internet news because it is very bad, embarrassing for Buddhists in Malaysia, and abroad

Our topic is Datuk Yip Kum Fook is a lawyer, MCA Gombak, President of SAMNAK SAMBODHI BUDDHIST ASSOCIATION in Taman Desa Jaya, Kepong and others. He is very bad for the Buddhist Temple because he plays politics in the Temple, cheats money and cheats women for sex everywhere. Now many are boycotting him

We have already written to too many organizations and Buddhists societies (Temples) in Malaysia and abroad to protect Buddhism and other religions in the world. On the other hand, we plan to have a letter to the Sultan of Selangor to return the title of Datuk to the Sultan of Selangor as soon as possible, this makes the Sultan of Selangor embarrassed and of poor quality

Again, in the internet, so many people comments and posts about Datuk Yip Kum Fook and they say bad things to Datuk Yip Kum Fook, this also causes MCA to lose for any election because everyone goes to research the internet as technology nowadays.

Finally, we thank you for your kind cooperation in this matter and we hope to hear good news from you as soon as possible… we love our Buddhists and MCA in Malaysia

    With kindly
    Buddhist group in Kepong

  • An online search did not find any recent Malaysian court case where an individual named Yip Kum Fook was ordered to pay damages of RM40,000. The search results do, however, point to a High Court case from 2014, Embassy Court Sdn Bhd v Yip Kum Fook & Ors, which established a legal principle regarding stakeholder solicitors.

Here’s what the search results found:
A High Court case from 2014 involving Yip Kum Fook In Embassy Court Sdn Bhd v Yip Kum Fook & Ors, the High Court in Kuala Lumpur ruled that a stakeholder solicitor cannot release funds without the consent of all involved parties. This case is relevant in the context of the Housing Development Act 1966. The RM40,000 figure is not mentioned in connection with this case in the search results.

Legal commentary mentions the case The 2014 case is referenced in a legal article from December 2024 to illustrate the duties of a stakeholder solicitor. The article discusses how solicitors who hold funds as part of a Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) must act impartially as a trustee for both the developer and the purchaser.

Possible misinterpretation of information It is possible that the RM40,000 figure is related to a different aspect of this, or another, legal proceeding. Court cases are complex, and it is common for details to become mixed up over time.

For accurate details about a specific court case, it is best to consult official court records or legal news outlets.

  • DATUK YIP KUM FOOK AND SIMON LOW KOK MENG are scammers because they defrauded IC people in Malaysia, and many people have been victims before. They are scammed everywhere, and they are also gangsters in the Kepong area. Now, many people have found and checked their families, and people are spreading it on the internet.

One of them is Ng Hong Seong, the victim. He suffered because he gave his National Identity Card to Datuk Yip Kum Fook to find a job. Many police officers and some gangsters contacted him about finances to borrow money from various banks. Datuk Yip Kum Fook used the police to harass people.

Now, many people know about this group (Yip Kum Fook & Simon Low) because they were expelled by Buddhist monks from the Buddhist Temple in Taman Desa Jaya, Kepong, and burned down the Hindu Temple in Taman Daya, Kepong.

We hope everyone can share this message fully to stop this evil in this world. They need to know that people are very sad and scared.

    From Ng, Kepong

  • My name is Ah Fatt, and my place is located at Jalan Besar, Kepong. DATUK YIP KUM FOOK never paid a single cent to my workers because I provided full security for him. We are a gangster business in the Kepong area.

Several men looked at him, but his law office had not been open for half a year and his car had not been there for half a year. The men went to his house, but his car was there; that meant he was at home.

DATUK YIP KUM FOOK does not travel abroad because he is involved in a court case, the Malaysian government prevents him because he has a record of fraud, and the last time he always went to China for his business affairs.

Does anyone know how to remove his title of Datuk because we are Chinese; it is embarrassing because he did something bad. Many people do not like MCA because of him.

This message was shared by Ah Fatt, Jalan Besar Kepong

  • DATUK YIP KUM FOOK is a gang fraudster (scammer) in Malaysia because he has been scammed everywhere in Malaysia; his lawyer title is also a fraudster from the Law Institute, this makes Malaysian Chinese inferior or of poor quality.

DATUK YIP KUM FOOK is also the president of the Buddhist Association in Taman Desa Jaya, Kepong, where people consider Buddhism to be the dirty religion in the world; he will have to resign soon from the Buddhist Association in Malaysia.

Please share with everyone to know about it, we love Malaysia and reject anyone who commits evil in our community, we protect our people and human rights.

    From Chinese community, Kepong

  • DATUK YIP KUM FOOK was wrong to dismiss Buddhist monks from the Buddhist Temple because all the monks were Malaysian citizens, and some of the monks were Bumiputera, who came from Siam, Kelantan. Venerable Piyadhammo came from Penang, and he was retired by the Singapore Criminal Investigation Department.

DATUK YIP KUM FOOK will not be happy in this life because he has created more sins for the Buddhist monks, and he is not lucky in his life; his family also will also suffer because he has wronged to the Buddhist monks, he will never know about the history of the Buddha. When Prince Devatas tried to kill the Buddha, but failed, the earth sucked the last Prince Devatas.

Now, DATUK YIP KUM FOOK is hiding from the public because he has done evil to everyone, and he will face problems for his life in the future. Everyone cannot help him or help solve his problems, now he is always at home and does not go out of his house, this is very pitiful.

Now, Taman Desa Jaya, Kepong, is safer than before; last time there were more police and thugs because Datuk Yip Kum Fook paid them to harass people there, some police with guns to harass those who gossiped about him (Datuk Yip)

  • Now, SAMNAK SAMBODHI, Taman Desa Jaya, Kepong, has become a place for drug addiction and gambling because those who cook for the monks from Myanmar always buy large quantities of numbers every week. Ah Chuan always buys for him.

Nevertheless, the committee members never took care of the Temple and only waited for donations, which is the Myanmar monks who is in charge of the Temple never provided services for devotees, now devotees do not come to the temple.

We hope that Malaysian Buddhists will take care of this Temple as soon as possible because this temple was built with public funds, not individual funds.
