Taiwanese House @ Taman Paramount, P.J

I have been observing the dinner time of most of the people nowadays, it’s getting earlier, have you noticed the trend?

The dinner crowd at Taiwanese House at 5.30pm on Saturday, and luckily we made reservation but dining time was limited to 90 minutes only.

The restaurant is spacious and well illuminated by the natural light from glass windows, as well as the ample amount of ceiling spotlights. The place is sparingly decorated with hand-drawn art pieces and green plants add liveliness to the ambience.

As the name implies, Taiwanese House’s well illustrated menu features wide variety of Taiwanese foods included set meals of rice and noodle dishes, Japanese curry rice, Don, street snacks, salad bowls and shaved ice desserts.

Taiwan is one of the world’s most famous tea growing regions, so it’s not surprise that the beverage list of Taiwanese House offers good selection of tea inspired drinks. Other options includes coffees, homemade soya and flower teas.

Garlic Slice Taiwanese Sausage (RM8.90)

Ham Egg Scallion Sandwich (RM10.90)

Signature Ginger Dumpling (RM12.90)

These light bites were okay, but they weren’t something to write home about.

Taiwanese Stewed Belly Rice Set (RM21.90)

All set meal comprised braised minced pork rice (with half braised egg), main dish, pickles and soup.

Taiwanese Braised Pork Rice, or Lu Rou Fan, is one of the most beloved Taiwanese comfort foods that can commonly find in street markets, road side stalls or restaurant all over the country. The Taiwanese Pearl Rice was smothered with rich, savory gravy, it’s good on its own or pairs with other dishes.

The stewed belly was achingly soft where the fat part was melt-in-your-mouth. Thw portion and texture were satisfying, however the flavour somehow wasn’t up to my expectation though. I would have hoped the flavours of gravy could be enhanced further and the consistency could be thicker.

Signature Braised Pork Rice Set (RM15.90)

Slivers of pork belly braised in sweet and savoury sauce concoction made from Taiwanese soy sauce was a true comfort meal in a bowl!

Three Cup Drumstick Rice Set (RM25.90)

Salty and sticky sauce with hints of heat from the bird eye chili coated on the tender chicken chunks, this classic Taiwanese dish definitely your best pairing with your hot steamed rice! The dish also perfumed with handful of Basil leaves but the amount of salt could be lesser. (-“-;)

Taiwanese Belly Pork Chop Rice Set (RM21.90)

Flavourful and crispy with a bit of kick from the chili powder, although the pork chop wasn’t the tenderest I’ve eaten, it still a delectable dish to go with rice.

Rose Red Lemon Tea (RM14.90)

An  refreshing tangy tea drink made from dried lemon, rose, Chrysanthemum and Goji.

Mochi Ice Dessert

It’s an unique Taiwanese dessert which is usually available in night market. Warm plain Mochi fully covered with peanut and sesame powder, topped on bed of shaved ice. The contrast between warm and cold, as well as glutinous and melting soft were rather enjoyable.

Verdict: Menu that offers a consummate range of Taiwanese food that many of us similar with, wallet friendly price and attentive service, it’s very much explained why Taiwanese House is a popular dining venue in this area.
