Nai Thong Premium Chicken Rice @ Medan Putra Business Centre, Kepong

I rejoiced over the opening of a new Thai chicken rice shop at my nearby neighbourhood and hoped that it can make up for our failed attempt.

Patrons are welcome by two glittering rooster statues at the entrance.

No frills but comfortable and brightly lit dining area. The food preparation station is set right at the entrance.

More glamorous roosters……Cock-a-doodle-doo……

The menu was rather limited with choices of single portion rice as above, ala carte 1/4 chicken, chicken innard, blanched vegetable (Yau Mak), chicken soup and Tom Yum soup.

Iced Thai Milk Tea (RM6.90)

Thai Premium Chicken Breast Rice (RM9.90)

Thai Premium Chicken Thigh Rice (RM11.50)

Thai Premium Chicken Wing Rice (RM9.90)

Portion wise, I felt that the rice was slightly bigger than usual. The rice in light yellowish hue was aromatic, flavourful and garlicky, with a delightful texture of not too hard nor mushy. The chicken was tender (even the chicken breast was soft and succulent), but they weren’t  served hot (not even lukewarm) which really irked me. 〴⋋_⋌〵

This is not the only thing that ruined my dining experience. Read further…..

The chili dipping was a concoction of soy sauce, chopped chili, garlic, ginger and perhaps fish sauce also. It added a kick of heat and a burst of complex flavours to the rather mild tasting chicken. I’m afraid I did not take fancy to this Thai style chili sauce, no fault here but just more of a matter of preference.

Crispy Pork (RM24.00)

Special dish of that day which was recommended by the staff. Being a big fan of Siew Yoke (but the staff said this isn’t Siew Yoke, but Thai Crispy Pork LOL), hubby got it without hesitation. He regretted immediately when he saw the portion and the price charged. I could expect the texture those miserably looking crispy pork cut when it was served on our table. They were dry and did not deliver much flavour. The skin was crunchy but still couldn’t make the dish more exciting. 囧

King of Lemon Soup (RM3.50)

The soup turned out to be my favourite dish of my lunch that day. The broth was richly flavoured by the chicken bones and that gentle hint of sourness definitely the magical boozy touch that kicked up the flavour.

The factor that worsen my dining experience was I found the pin feather and feather intact on my chicken wing. I really cannot accept this and it makes me feel disgusting, don’t you? ⋋_⋌p

Verdict: Obviously, this place is not one that I would come back again. Enough said.
