After One @ Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, K.L.

It was a casual Sunday breakfast session on early December last year. Hubby was in the mood to drive to downtown KL and brought us to After One, a cafe that located on a narrow cul-de-sac along Jalan Yap Kwan Sing.

The cafe certainly had the feel of spaciousness with the whole place was sectioned into several dining areas. White theme interior with diverse range of furnishings, colourful elements and potted plants incorporated sparsely to create an inviting atmosphere.

There were two al-fresco dining area – at the front car porch and at the back of the cafe. Photos above were the pet-friendly dining space in front of the cafe.

Blue sky, sky scrappers, sun shade sail canopy, green plants which provide a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the outside world.

After One’s menu showcases Mediterranean inspired food, ranging from breakfast dishes such as Turish Eggs, Mediterranean Baked Beans, Skillet Corn Hash and Yogurt Bowl (RM32-44), pastas, burgers, sandwiches and mains (RM33-52), small bites (RM20-24), kid’s meal (RM24-26) and even pet menu (RM22)! There are good selection of vegetarian/vegan and gluten free dishes to cater the special diet groups.

It’s a fully loaded platter comprised German chicken sausages, tornado styled scrambled eggs, house cured salmon, house-made baked beans, half an avocado, grilled cherry tomatoes, sourdough toast, and mini fruit bowl.

Everything were well executed except the scrambled egg which needed more seasoning to pick up its flavour.

Mushroom Cheese Sandwich (RM33.00)

Sandwiched in between nicely toasted sourdough bread, the flavour combination of pesto spread, mushrooms, melted aged Cheddar, Mozzarella and Gouda really hit the spot.

The tomato soup had a thick creamy texture, each spoonful left a pleasant sour tang. The sweet potato fries was a delightful substitute for the usual French fries.

Verdict: All things considered, we enjoyed our breakfast at After One.
