Hwa Ga 火家 @ Sunway Giza Mall, Kota Damansara
K-style BBQ joints have been popping up in Malaysia, especially Klang Valley for many years. Due to the popularity, it’s natural that BBQ joints start to offer buffet style from the original ala-carte which surely appease the bargain hunter instinct in us.
Hwa Ga 火家 surely understands the importance of variety for Korean BBQ buffet. Rather than stuffing your stomach for just two or three key dishes, you’ll be able to sample up to THIRTY ONE (31) different meats and dishes to get the entire gastronomical experience!
Look at my excited face posing with all the items in the menu being served on our table!

We visited Hwa Ga at Kota Damansara with a group of friends for their buffet lunch a couple of weeks ago. Located in Sunway Giza Mall, Hwa Ga occupied a rather spacious place with wooden theme and completed with simple wooden furniture and banquette seats. The dining area is adorned with plenty of Soju bottles, Korean pots as well as potted plants which added liveliness to the overall setting.
The restaurant is sectioned into 2 areas; the main dining hall and a well partitioned space near the window which is good for bigger group.
Our tables were equipped with stoves topped with special imported grilling marble and greaseproof paper, scissor and cooking tong.
Banchan was served once we were seated, the choices might not as many as some of the restaurants but who cares when you have ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT barbecued meats and dishes!
Let’s have a look what we can order from the ala-carte menu.
It is a ala-carte buffet so diners need to place your order of your choices of meats or dishes and the items will be served to your table accordingly. The menu features 10 types of meats (pork, beef, chicken and squid in original flavors and marinated), Korean dishes such as Tteokbokki, stews, Ramyeon, rice, pajeon and Korean fried chicken.
For those who prefer to savor the simple smoky flavor as well as original meaty flavor, get the meats without marinade such as pork jowl, pork belly or beef belly. For myself I prefer marinated meat selection of beef with soy sauce, sliced pork belly with Korean spicy sauce, pork ribs, marinated pork, cross cut ribs and squid & pork belly in spicy sauce for a more bursting of flavors.
The greaseproof paper prevent meat from sticking on the grill pan and the wait staff will help to change the paper when it get too burnt.
Fried Chicken and fried chicken in sweet and chilli Sauce.
Sundubu Jjigae (spicy soft tofu stew)
Soy bean paste stew with beef & Kimchi Jjigae (Kimchi Stew)
Korean style stews always my obligatory order, Hwa Ga selections certainly can satiate my craving.
Spring onion pancake & Kimchi pancake.
Japchae (Glass Noodles with Vegetables)
Tteokbokki (Spicy Rice Cake)
Dolsot Bibimbab (Mixed rice with vegetables served in hot stone pot)
Bibimbab (Mixed rice with vegetables)
Shin Ramyeon (Korean Noodles)
If the grilled meats still cannot satisfy your tummy, there are more substantial food to fill up your tummy.
Drinks are NOT included in the All-You-Can-Eat Korean Ala Carte BBQ Buffet but there are wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks include Soju, Makgeoli, Beer, Plum Wine, Tea, Sodas and Juices for additional order.
Verdict: For the price charged, this definitely a rock bottom deal and a place worthy to spend a meal on because an order of ala-carte grilled meat at Korean restaurant can simply costed up to RM30 per plate.

Oh dear, I’m already full looking at the wide selection of foooood available! 😉 This is the first time I’ve seen greaseproof paper being used though….can you still get a good charring with this? From experience, 2 hours is not a lot of time when you have to cook the food as well…and it’ll probably take longer cooked on top of paper…but the price is definitely a dang good deal! ^.^
Yes, we got our meat with nice charring without the risk of meat sticking on the grill, sound great right? I must admit 2 hours is a bit rush but luckily the marble grill top comes with fast heat conductivity, so the time is more than enough 🙂
Wow! Wow! I am attracted to their Fried Chicken and Fried Chicken in sweet and chilli sauce. Their big variety of dishes are very tempting too and I have bookmarked this place to visit.
For me, the main pull will be the wide variety of meats and I’m actually didn’t eat much other dishes 😛
Wah! This place is really worth a visit. I would be very happy with the selection of dishes offered.
PH, I’m actually planning a revisit, haha, forever can’t get anough of Korean grilled meat, same to my girl too 😛
When people ask “mat kah fo” and you can say “it’s fo kah”!
you so funny lah Ken, haha!
I everyday in Sunway Giza. Maybe I should bring the boys here.
Hope you guys have big appetite to try ALL the dishes! ^__^
