Restoran I Po @ Klang
‘Taste is Subjective’ I would say, after browsing reviews of Restoran I Po on internet.
I was recommended to Restoran I Po by a friend and I purposely made a visit to Klang for the roasted duck with crispy skin that he raved about.

It was a raining afternoon when we arrived for late lunch and the place was rather vacant with only 3-4 tables occupied for both air-conditioned and non air conditioned section.

Roasted ducks with glistening amber skin hung at the chopping counter was a sight to behold.

Roasted Duck (Half Duck – RM30.00)

Portion wise, the size of their roasted duck was smaller than the usual one as I’ve read that they use young ducks of a little over a month old for its finer meat texture. The amber hued fowl was in all its shining glory with a beautiful crackly skin. The flavour of the meat however was less satisfying, it was not as flavourful as I hoped. Both sweet sauce and chili sauce (with hint of sweetness) came as rescuer to slightly pick up the flavour. The meat was tender and succulent nonetheless.

Braised eggs
I Po also offers roasted chicken, roasted pork, Char Siew as well as assortment of cooked dishes such as fried lala, salted vegetables, mustard green stew aka Chai Boey that you can pick from the counter (ala economy rice style).

Verdict: Their famous roasted duck was just alright, but maybe it’s just not to my preferential taste as you can read many good reviews online. Don’t take my word for it, come and try it yourself if you are at this area and let me know your verdict!

I love roast duck! But I don’t get to eat it often enough. Too bad this one did not meet with your expectations.
PH, yalor, like seldom see you share your roasted duck makan in blog although you said you love it, why ar?
I agree with you that the roast duck is just alright, I think sunrise & loong foong is probably a better bet. Still quite competent nonetheless.
KY, I never try both your recommendations but I think I’ll try out one day!
I’m not really a huge fan of duck but my in-laws are. Maybe if they are around the area, I’ll bring them here.
Merryn, actually there are better options and nearer to you such as Sunrise & Loong Foong, both at PJ area.
I would only enjoy this type of roasted ducks with crispy skin but the location is a bit far. You are so adventurous!
TM, who doesn’t like roasted duck/chicken/pig with crispy skin, definitely not me and you, hehe!
i think i’d enjoy the roast duck here, based on the look of the crisp skin alone! 🙂
Sean, I like the crispy skin but would be better if the flavour of the meat can be stronger~
When I read the first 3 words, I thought uh-oh, she’s gonna buck the trend and go the other way.
For me, if the roast duck comes with crispy skin, I won’t mind if the meat is not as flavourful….hehehe! 😉
Kris, oh really? I want both crispy skin and flavourful meat!
The skin looks very thin and crispy. Got that ‘duck’ taste on its meat ma?
Mel, the duck had the distinctive “gamey duck taste” (quite mild) but other than that, quite bland tasting~
