S.Wine Cafe @ Ben’s Independent Grocer, Publika
It has been 9 years since our last visit to S.Wine Cafe nestled in Ben’s Independent Grocer, Publika and we were here again for lunch after so many years.
Nothing much changes on the interior (we were there on last year August and the table setting was well adherence to the SOPs) and not as packed as before during lunch peak hours on a weekend.
Like what they define themselves ~ ‘A treasure trove for pork lovers’, porcine dishes took center stage at this cafe. The full-fledged menu offered a mishmash of Western, Chinese and Thai influenced dishes to tempt your taste bud. There were soups and salads (RM18-RM38), pastas (RM20-RM28), sandwich and burger (RM28-RM30), mains (RM22-RM112), light bites (RM12-RM25), as well as assorted ready-to-cook ingredients such as burger patties, minced pork, bbq ribs, mushroom soup and many more.
Grilled Pork Neck & Jackfruit Salad (RM23.00)
Served in a big, deep bowl, the salad was a mixture of sliced grilled pork neck, mesclun salad, red onion, cilantro, peppermint, basil, jackfruit and crushed peanut tossed with appetizing spicy sour Thai dressing. The grilled pork neck was delicious with pleasant smoky flavour and multitude flavours from the combination of spices of the marinade.
English Fry Up (RM28.00)
Very standard breakfast platter with back bacon, pork sausage, 2 fried eggs on toast, sauteed mushrooms, grilled tomato and baked beans. For the price charged, I would have hoped for bigger portion.
Pan Roasted Pork Chop with Spinach (RM35.00)
A rather thick slab of pork chop sit on pool of creamy mustard sauce , accompanied by sauerkraut bacon mash and poached spinach. The pork chop was adequately tender. If I had to comment, it would be the flavour which I thought it could be roasted longer for more charred outer.
The mustard sauce was creamy and the taste was delicate to complement the pork chop. The sauerkraut and bacon added extra textures and flavour to the ordinary mashed potato.
BBQ Double Cheese Burger (RM30.00)
It’s a tall stack of double pork patties, lettuce, sliced tomatoes and dressed with cheese sauce, tomato sauce and bbq sauce. This burger certainly can satisfy any burger lover for it’s decent portion and the thick slab of well seasoned pork patties provided the greatest contentment to the overall experience.
Verdict: I’m glad my dining experience was still as good as previous and I would say that S.Wine Cafe is an ideal option if you’re in Publika.

I have been to the S.Wine at 3 Damansara and I thought the food was good. The Grilled Pork Neck and Jackfruit Salad catches my eye!
PH, I think you will like the tangy Thai inspired dressing.
I am drooling over the Pan Roasted Pork Chop…OMG! Looks so good.

And I have been to the one at Tropicana City Mall….although the porky dishes I had then tasted a bit too porky for me. And that English fry-up looks like something we can cook up at home but glad you had a nice meal here.
Kris, I don’t like pork with strong “porky” taste too but luckily these dishes we had didn’t have such problem.
It’s been such a long time since I went to S.wine, that pork chop looks pretty decent isn’t it!
