The buffet spread and the a few beautiful statues brought by chef from Sri Lanka decorated the tables.

Dim lighted and spacious dining area, the rattan chairs really gave me the nostalgia feeling of Malaysian homes.

Alfresco dining area surrounded by greens.

So, prepare to bury your spoon deep into these famous selections from the chefs!

Sri Lankan Yellow Rice

Cashew Nut and Drumstick Meat Mitikirata

Sri Lankan Lamb Black Pepper Curry

Prawn Baduma

Sri Lankan Chicken Curry

A popular Sri Lankan street food dish , essentially it is composed of shredded pieces of Sri Lankan paratha bread that are stir fried with an assortment of spices and a choice of other meat or vegetables.

These are some of the mains from the buffet spread. Most of the dishes are redolent with herbs and with robust taste of various spices. The curries are definitely savory enough to go with multiple bowls of rice, don’t say I’m not warning you, be prepare a empty stomach ya!

Plain and Egg Hoppers

Resemble our apom balik, the hooper is made from a fermented batter of rice flour, coconut milk and a dash of palm toddy or yeast, which lends a sour flavor and fermentation ability. I opted for the egg hopper where an egg was added and sprinkled with dash of pepper before served. There are 2 types of chili paste for those who like some extra kick for your hopper, I highly recommend you to add in both for that tongue-tingling sensation. A must have item I would say!

A coconut custard pudding made of coconut milk or condensed milk, jaggery, cashew nuts, eggs, and various spices.

Sri Lankan sweets

Thala Guli in round shape, made from a mixture of sesame seeds, jaggery (palm sugar).

Konda Kavum ~ An authentic Sri Lankan sweet made out of rice flour, coconut syrup (honey)

Basically, Sri Lankan desserts are slightly on the sweeter side, for those who has high tolerance on it can have a try 😛

Come and have a taste the flavours of Sri Lanka @ Suria Cafe from 17th to 27th June 2013 as these three Lankan-teers battle with fire and wok! Also stand a chance to win a luxurious stay at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo when you dine in during the promotion period!
