Warung Soho @ Plaza Damas, Sri Hartamas
I must confess that Malay cuisine is not in my list of favourite food but there is always exception like THIS and this humble stall which I’m going to share with you today.
Warung Soho is a small stall nestled in Plaza Damas which serves traditional Kelantanese food.
The simple al-fresco seating at Warung Soho. We were there on A Saturday for late lunch hence the place was quite vacant. I understand that the lunch crowd can be quite massive during weekdays.
Deep fried small chunks of chicken marinated turmeric and other spices, one of the essential condiments for their signature Nasi Soho. They were quite flavouful from the marinade and nicely cooked to a nice texture.
The fried chicken tasted exactly like what it looked like, very dry on the texture which very common for Malay style fried chicken. The marinade although was quite minimal but the flavor was good.
Ikan Tonggol and Telur Masak Gulai
Macekrel and hard boiled eggs cooked in Kelantanese curry gravy, mild in spiciness with subtle hint of sweetness.
There are some ready packed kuih-muih on sales too.
Nasi Soho (RM5.00) + add on hard boiled egg
Served in a rattan tray lined with banana leaf, the Nasi Soho comprised of steamed white rice bathed with generous amount of gulai gravy, pile of Ayam Soho, sliced cucumber and dollop of sambal. A failproof combination I would say and the sambal is the bomb! We add on a hard boiled egg for a more wholesome meal.
Besides Nasi Soho, they also have Nasi Dagang, Nasi Kerabu and other dishes which I believe are rotated daily.
Verdict: I never taste the local Kelantanese food but my meal at Warung Soho was rather satisfying and the affordable price certainly one of the factor I’ll make a revisit.
