I’ve been discovering many new eateries from the recommendations from XiaoHongShu 小红书 (Little Red Book), a Chinese social community app. Now only I know there’re many hidden gems at Kepong area that I never noticed, so I’ll try out one by one, stay tune!
Street Hainanese Chicken Rice Shop, as its name implies, Hainanese Chicken takes centre stage at this restaurant. They also offer roasted chicken, BBQ pork (Char Siew) and roasted pork (Siew Yoke). The restaurant setting is simple with both air-conditioned and non air-conditioned dining area. Since it is located near two primary schools (SJK (C) Kepong 1 & Kepong 2), please avoid school run period as the traffic can be quite horrendous at this area.
Rice (Big – RM2.00)
Fluffy and delicious, with good dose of flavours from the chicken broth, Pandan leaves, ginger and other.
The chili dipping packed a good fiery punch with just enough lime/vinegar for zing.
Kampung Chicken Breast Quarter (RM25.00)
The chicken looked sublime with bright yellow skin. A bite into the firm and tender chicken was deliciously satisfying. The chicken was smooth and rather succulent. The sauce wasn’t too salty and it enhanced the chook just right.
BBQ Pork (100g – RM11.00) & Roasted Pork (100g – RM11.00)
Caramelized to a rich, crusty and sugary coating, the Char Siew was juicy and soft, signifying slow roasting method for hours. Each piece had a glowing sheen of flavors as I savored them slowing for the ultimate devotion it deserves. I also love the fact that it was cut quite thick, allowing the good flavors filling the mouth sensationally.
Although the Siew Yoke had the good half fat and half lean criteria but flavors were just not there. Skip this and order extra portion of Char Siew.
Bean Sprouts (RM6.00)
Fat and crunchy, nothing to complaint.
Verdict: Definitely a good place to head to for a decent Hainanese chicken rice meal.

The chicken looks pretty good, now I pulak craving for steamed chicken. I would get the leg portion. Too bad the siew yoke was not up to mark. Fortunately the char siew is as good as it looks! Really make my mouth water. LOL!
