Mr. Wu @ Laman Rimbunan, Kepong
It’s one of the lunch sessions after Sam’s Saturday tuition class, we went to Mr. Wu at Laman Rimbunan which I have wanted to visit.
The restaurant adopts a clean white theme with cozy ambience filled with lots of natural lights, which is very welcoming and pleasant at sight.
Like most of the Taiwanese restaurants, Mr. Wu’s menu combines a good selection of renowned Taiwanese food like Lu Rou Fan, fried pork chop, fried chicken chop, braised pork knuckle, braised pork chop, dumpling, pancakes, vegetarian dishes and etc, served ala carte or in set. Of course those iconic shaved ice desserts and milk tea beverages are included in the extensive menu as well.
Original Milk Tea (RM8.90) & Watermelon Juice (RM9.90)
Shrimp Mee Sua ((RM13.90)
This popular Taiwanese street food is originally comes with oyster and braised pork intestines, but since Sam not a fan of these two ingredients, she opted for shrimps instead. Other options included squid, mixed seafood and chicken popcorn.
The thick and gooey broth with good dose of umami was well worth slurping up. Drizzles of black vinegar added a gentle acidic contrast to the overall flavour.
Soul-Satisfying Spicy Minced Meat Dried Noodle Set + Fried Pork Chop (RM24.90)
The Soul-Satisfying Dried Noodles series comprises two options for the sauce – Spicy Minced Meat and Braised Meat. It also offers free add on of one portion noodles and soup.
Topped with shredded cucumber, omelet and ham, with the pungent spicy minced meat sauce hide underneath the Ramen channels a tongue tingling spiciness that a little beyond my spicy threshold.
The fried pork chop was rather dry.
Rainbow Taro Grass Jelly Ice (RM13.90)
My much anticipated dessert was aesthetically presented with colourful Taro balls and snowy shaved ice. The taste however was totally the opposite, the milky flavour of the shaved ice that I was expecting was almost did not exist. (´ω`)
Complimentary Lemon Chicken Skewer which was their new introduced item in the menu. The meat was tender but the flavour wasn’t as pronounced.
Verdict: The food that we tried was less impressive and I have better Taiwanese food options at my disposal, I will no doubt say that revisit is hardly possible. ●︿●

Oh dear. My last visit to the Damansara Utama branch before they closed was also so so. I remembered when first visited during the early days, the food was much better.
PH, oh really? This was my first time (maybe the last time also), so no comparison. 😛
I think the milk tea is Taiwan is cheaper hahaha.
KY, they have very competitive milk tea market.
I’ve also tried Mr Wu (and had the same soul-satisfying noodle dish (but not so satisfying-lah…lol) and thought the food to be so-so too (and never revisited). The only memorable drink for me from there was the so satisfying bitter gourd drink…hehe! 😉
Kris, high five for the same verdict.
