Shen Kee Canteen @ Medan Putra Business Center, Kepong
Specialises in Penang Kuey Teow Soup Noodles, Shen Kee from Penang is now operating at Medan Putra Business Center, Kepong.
The simplest restaurant setting that I’ve ever visited. LOL
The heart of the menu is the noodle selection with various of ingredients, but one can get something else as well. Their signature Penang Kuey Teow Soup Noodles, priced from RM10.90-15.90, with option of served with seaweed, Saito fishballs, minced pork, bean curd sheet or fish maw.
Grouper Fish + Bean Curd Sheet (RM14.90)
Diners also can customize their noodles with their soup base, noodles and ingredient selections, price ranging from RM13.90-27.90.
Soup options included clear soup, tomato soup, mala soup & hot & sour soup. The extensive list of ingredients such as minced pork, fish cake, bean curd sheet, Saito fish balls, Shabu pork slices as well as the more premium seafood like fresh prawn, giant fresh water prawn, grouper fish and fish maw, are available to be served along with noodles. There are 5 types of noodle to be selected, included Meehoon, yellow mee, Kuey Teow, Yee Mee and Guo Qiao Mixian.
Sam opted for clear soup and Meehoon. The pork bone broth was light but adequately flavoured and there were 4-5 pieces decent sized grouper fish slices, Fuzuk and vegetable.
Minced Pork, Fish Cake & Bean Curd Sheet (RM13.90)
Hubby got the hot & sour soup and it turned out to be tasted like clear Tom Yum soup (Tom Yum Goong Nam Sai) which was addictively appetizing. The broth had a good kick of spiciness and sourness level that both of us enjoyed immensely.
Apart of the default combinations of ingredients in the menu, there are assorted of add on such as fried egg, chili balls, lettuce and pork lard to enhance the dining experience.
Not fancy of noodles? There are rice dishes like Curry Chicken Rice, Sambal Prawn Rice, Wweet & Sour Chicken Rice, priced from RM13.90-17.90.
Bitter Gourd Saito Fishballs Soup (RM11.90)
My keto dinner…… Actually there were abundance of sliced bitter gourd underneath which I dug out after this photo was took. The fish balls were in irregular shape, slightly bouncy with mild fishy taste, which totally acceptable for me.
Penang Lobak (RM10.90)
The meat roll was made from marinated meat slivers, wrapped with crispy bean curd sheet. The filling was soft and marinade had a strong five spice powder taste.
Other options of snacks included fish cake, fried chicken pop corn and fried round fish cake, priced from RM7.90-19.90.
Verdict: I can’t comment much about the authenticity of the Kuey Teow Soup Noodles but as far as the food is concerned, we like what we ordered. An ideal place to head to for some simple comfort food, especially Penangites who miss their hometown food.

You had such a light dinner….fish balls & bitter gourd…well done! 😉 I don’t think I’d be full with just that. The Penang lobak looks like the real deal.
Kris, bitter gourd fish balls soup + most of the Lobak were my dinner, hehe 😛
Love kuih teow soup, this should be something I need to visit when there’s opportunity.
KY, I hope this can pass your Penang Lang taste bud.
