Soybar 小钰豆霸 @ Bandar Menjalara, Kepong
Thank you Kris for her sharing on Soybar, I can enjoy some wallet friendly soy desserts!
Being an insatiable sweet tooth, I can’t resist cream cakes, Choux au Craquelin, assorted Chinese dessert soups (aka Tong Shui), fruit tarts, ice cream, sweet pies, puddings, shaved ice and others. However, the price of those desserts are definitely not cheap, which a slice of cake served in cafe can be priced at RM15-18 and the price of soybean pudding (aka Tau Foo Fah) with condiments is ranging from RM10 to RM20, depends on the quantity of condiments added. So you can imagine how excited I was when I know that I can get a bowl of Tau Foo Fah with 4 toppings/condiments with only RM7! A rock bottom deal, I tell ya!
There are quite a number Soybar stalls like this being set up in coffee shops/kopitiam around Klang Valley, such as Puchong, Cheras, Sri Petaling, Desa Petaling, Rawang, Damansara Uptown, just to name a few.
Menu and price. As the name suggests, Soybar specializes in soy based desserts including soy milk in variety of flavours (original, black soy, black sesame, red bean, honeydew & chocolate), plain Tau Foo Fah & Tau Foo Fah with assorted of toppings, namely glutinous rice balls (Tang Yuen), peanuts, grass jelly and red bean.
Four of Kind Beancurd (RM7.00)
Tau Foo Fah served with 4 types of toppings – glutinous rice balls, crushed peanuts, grass jelly and red bean. The dessert also came with a small jar of brown sugar.
The Tau Foo Fah was smooth with adequately soy flavour. Those toppings added multitude of textures and flavours to the dessert. Overall, it was a delightful dessert to enjoy but if I had a grouch, it would be the glutinous rice balls. They were not chewy as I would have hoped and the texture was unusually “powdery” and dense.
Soy Milk (Original – RM6.00 & Black Sesame – RM9.00)
Nothing much different with those we normally buy from soy milk trucks/stalls but the black sesame flavoured one was rather fragrant.
♥Verdict: The affordable price alone manage to induce repeat visits to Soybar and I’m glad that it is available at several locations that very convenient to me, yay!

The tau foo fah with 4 toppings does look very tempting. I have yet to check the one at Damansara Uptown.
PH, hopefully you can have chance to try it soon.

Kris, I think I’ll try it again see if the texture of glutinous rice balls still the same, hehe 😛
I tried the chilled bean curd on my next purchase, really not bad at all, I like it!
nice and tasty, quite a long while I never go for cafe and restaurant… haiz…
Yann, you can always take away like I did if you’re still skeptical to dine in. 🙂
