I Cook: Teriyaki Chicken Wings & Daikon

As I’ve mentioned in my previous post of braised pork recipe, I like to prepare braised meat dishes so today another recipe to be shared with you guys. This time I’m using chicken wings and some daikon (white radish) braised ala Japanese Teriyaki style.

Ingredients

5-6 Whole chicken wings

1 Daikon

2 tablespoon soy sauce

2 tablespoon mirin (sweetness adjust to personal preference)

2 tablespoon sake

Oil for frying

500ml water

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 1: Marinate the chicken wings with soy sauce, mirin & sake for a few hours. Keep the marinade for braising purpose later.
Step 3: Use high heat bring to boil then turn to lower heat and braised 20-30 minutes until the gravy has reduced to desired thickness. When the gravy start thicken up, flip over the chicken so that both side of the meat can be coated with sauce evenly.
The taste of the Teriyaki sauce basically can be adjusted according to personal preference. For those who like stronger flavor can add more soy sauce or add more mirin if not enough sweet. Too salty? Add sake! So make your own Teriyaki sauce! You’re the chef!
