Wan Tan Mee Sungai Besi @ Sungai Besi, K.L

Operates from 6.30pm till midnight (3.00am), this Wonton Mee stall nestled at the car mechanic shop (during day time) along Jalan Sungai Besi is one of the popular supper places for night owls at Klang Valley.

The simple setting is simple with basic plastic tables and stools placed in the rather shabby shack. Wonton Mee takes centre stage in their simple menu with different ingredients such as the usual Wonton, Char Siew, dumpling (Sui Kaw), roasted duck, roasted pork, chicken feet, curry wild boar, fried pork and pork trotter vinegar.  There is curry mee and some add on light bite like vegetables, Yong Tau Foo and fried dumpling.

Lime Juice with Sour Plum (RM4.00)

Mushroom Chicken Feet Wonton Mee (Small – RM7.50)

The texture of the noodles wasn’t the springy I’ve tried but it’s not too soft either with adequate good bite. The soy sauce concoction was fragrant and savoury, sufficient to coated the whole portion of noodles. (some places are very stingy with the sauce rendering a plate of not enough “black” noodles which I’m not really happy with( ̄ー ̄;)

The chicken feet and mushroom was averrage okay, well braised till soft and flavourful.

Curry Mee (Small – RM7.00)

The curry mee was lackluster. The consistency of the broth was quite thin and the flavour and spiciness was lack of oomph factor to appeal to me. It came with poached chicken, tiny cockles, bean curd puffs and bean sprout.

Plain Wan Tan Mee (Small – RM6.80)

Sorry for the missing of the photo of the Wonton Mee. Sam got a regular dry Wonton Mee with Wonton soup. Those Wonton were just okay, small in size with not much meat filling and the flavour was nothing particularly worth mentioning.

Pickled green chilies and Sambal chili to go with the noodles. I like the Sambal chili with plenty of fragrant dried shrimps.

Fried Wanton (RM0.50/pcs)

Curry Wild Boar (Small – RM10.00)

The curry wild boar was pretty goo d stuff. Portion was big for this price, the pork pieces was achingly tender and well absorbed the delicious flavours of the curry. Despite a tad oily, I like the creaminess of it and I think this dish will goes well with rice. #tambahnasi

Verdict: Overall it’s not bad but I’m not sure if I will purposely come back again. The location is a bit far from where I stay and I have a few more better Wonton Mee options at my disposal.
