Sushi Jiro @ Tropicana Gardens Mall
This was our last dine in before we were being stuck at home again. ~>_<~
Sushi Jiro, a chain restaurant (is it a local brand? Can anyone enlighten me?) that offers affordable and wallet friendly Japanese food with more that 10 outlets in Malaysia.
Set up as a kiosk-style restaurant in Tropicana Gardens Mall, themed in light wooden tone and there were options of booth seating or counter seats (facing conveyor belt).
Flat rate of RM3.33 per plate which included sushi, maki, and dishes such as Saba Shioyaki, Takoyaki, Edamame, Fried Spring Roll & etc.
Noodles selection such as Spicy Creamy Broth Udon/Ramen, Kitsune Udon, Miso Ramen and Chasoba priced at RM9.88/bowl. Garlic rice with different ingredients (Ebi Fry, Teriyaki Chicken or Salmon) priced at RM11.88 per serving. The dessert selections included Taiyaki, Cheese Tart, Mochi and Wafer Ice Cream priced at RM3.33 & RM7.88.
Green Tea (Hot/Cold – RM1.28)
For those who want a more complete meal can opt for items in their set menu like what we did, which priced from RM19.88 to RM29.88. The set included the mains, soup and side dishes.
Salmon Sushi Set (RM29.88)
We got sushi with Salmon Sashimi (4pcs), cooked Salmon with Mentaiko (2pcs), cooked Salmon with Teriyaki sauce (2pcs), mini Tamago & mini Mentaiko Tamago. These sushi were just average, nothing to shout about. Side dishes offered that day were plain miso soup, blanched spinach and Tamago.
Ebi Fry Set (RM19.88)
Yakiniku Beef Set (RM19.88)
The beef slices were nicely grilled with good smoky flavour and most of them chewy. =.=”
I know I cannot complain much about the food quality and certainly understand the fact of “You Got What You Paid For”. But to be honest, if my long waiting time was compensated with lukewarm food and undercooked rice, that’s out of my expectation. Both Ebi Fry and grilled beef were served lukewarm which I suspected they had been sitting on the counter for some times after prepared.
♥Verdict: If compared with Sushi Mentai, another Japanese chain restaurant with same concept, I definitely prefer the later, at least I got freshly cooked hot food served on my table. Have you been any Sushi Jiro? Share with me your experiences!

I can certainly understand “you get what you paid for”….but getting the food barely lukewarm isn’t part of that even if prices are considered cheap (that’s just bad service!). I’m lucky to have Sushi Mentai & Sakura Sushi in my neighbourhood where you can still get plates under RM2 & RM3! 😉
Kris, IKR! But since this was my first time trying on their set meal, perhaps I’ll give them a second chance to dine in when everything is better. There are Sushi Mentai outlets near me also but they always packed. >_<
