Restoran Yi Poh @ P.J Old Town

We were at P.J Old Town area after sending my air fryer to repair and decided to have our early lunch there. Initially we wanted to try out Veng Soon Claypot Chicken Rice but the food was not ready yet so we walked further and stumbled upon Restoran Yi Poh. I knew the restaurant is from Seremban and famous for its Loh Shu Fun, since we never try before so we settled our lunch here.

The setting of the restaurant is simple and fully air-conditioned, marble-top tables and wooden stools placed neatly within the space.

Iced Tri-Layer Tea (RM3.80)

The menu isn’t really extensive with variety of noodles (without any rice dishes) and small selection of snacks.

Fried Wonton (RM2.50)

Freshly fried but quite oily.

Yi Poh Loh C Fun (Big – RM6.50)

The noodles were longer and the shape was different with the Loh Shu Fun that we’re accustomed to but the texture was similar though, silky smooth. The bowl of dry noodles came with condiments of Char Siew and minced pork which was just average. The dark sauce concoction was rather disappointing, bland and not as aromatic as I would have hoped. The accompanied soup was very peppery, way too peppery to my liking.

Yi Poh Hakka Mee (Small – RM5.50)

The Hakka Mee was fare better. The noodles were nicely cooked with springy texture and well seasoned, came with same condiments of Char Siew and minced pork too.

Verdict: Although the Loh Shu Fun is their signature dish but to my dismay it didn’t meet my standard for a good bowl of noodles.
